Dilfer in the Sunday interview on MCI, said that he moved Sione upstairs to the box. He said he likes to have his coaches on the sideline but both were willing to try something new, and it definitely seemed to work. I say keep Sione up in the box.

RE: DC
Jury still out on him as DC as still not sure he's the man for it but still has time to change my mind. Still seeing lots of detail stuff not being done or done consistently as it should be done

RE: DC
Defense is improving. I'm not sold on him either, but neither am I ready to hit the eject button. Truthfully, the guy needs at least one more season to recruit more and better bodies. We were going to be thin on defense even before we lost the players who moved on and Goode went out for the season.

Dilfer thinks very highly of him and he's had more time to see what Sione can do. I'm going to trust our HC on this. If the defense continues to gel that gets easier, and if it suffers another Louisiana game fail the heat will go back on, but in general I counsel patience.

I said from day 1 one I wanted to see a team improve from game 1 to game 12 this season. So far that’s happening. I don’t believe any coach should be fired after a year unless it’s for non football related reasons. I don’t see how anybody can be 100% sold at this point, but he deserves time to learn what he’s doing. We knew this wasn’t a seasoned staff from day 1.

RE: DC
It's still not where it should be, but the defense has improved over the last couple of weeks.

Unlike in previous years where the defense was the stalwart of the team, moving forward it'll be the offense. Therefore the offense will carry the day more times than the defense and I'm cool with that as long as we are winning.

RE: DC
We're putting up a lot of points. If we can play even consistently mediocre defense our chances are decent. Play up to average and we should be in decent shape. UTSA and Memphis are both winnable, and then we hit the soft part of the schedule.

RE: DC
I think Sione is going to be fine in the long run just based on how much the defense has already improved. His schemes are very multiple, so maybe not the easiest defense to learn. I definitely trust Dilfer on this one.

Not sold by far, but we are showing a lot of improvement. If we keep improving at this rate, he will change my mind. Like others said, if our offense is this good, we only need a solid, decent defense and we should be just fine.

RE: DC
Keep him up in the box then! I believe Dilfer is personally ok with giving up 400 ypg with his regime. It’s something we are gonna have to get used to…just like big plays from scrimmage on offense that aren’t the same bomb play over and over.

We've somewhat quietly forced 8 turnovers in the past 3 games against some of the better teams on our schedule.

Currently #64 in penalty yards per game at 50.8, and that's with the 74 against USF. That's a big improvement.
