RE: ***Official West Virginia at UH Game Thread***
I was at the Holgo bowl game sitting in the cheap seats, and wow what a game, especially the second half! The West Virginia fans went from being upset to being ecstatic to devastated in 12 seconds, and the UH fans were the exact opposite. I'm glad I DVR'd it so I can watch it later today and figure out what all the griping over the refs was all about. Well ok, they did miss that hold by UH during the hail mary pass, but I'm sure it went both ways all night long.

Overall I have to say that I enjoyed hanging out with all of the West Virginia fans that I met at the stadium. Other than a few comments about the crappy attendance and Coach Holgorsen (rightly so on both counts), it was fun to watch a crazy back and forth football game with them.

Tremendous ending to the game. Absolutely wild.
My sister in Utah asked me why Houston doesn't support U of H more. I'm curious how native Houstonians would respond to that (I gave my response, but I've only been here 6 years and may not have a good grasp of why attendance was so low last night).

Next week will be a sellout because TX fans will stage a takeover.

ESPN posted it Attendance: 32,152

I've given up on trying to understand it, but it really feels like every moon, star and planet has to be in perfect alignment for them to show up. UH has to be undefeated, nationally ranked, the opponent has to be a big name or highly ranked. The weather, day and game time also have to be perfect. It has to be a big event, not just a game.

There is no and never will be showing up to support the team. If joining the big 12 didn't change it nothing will. I thought this might be the year it changes, and they've proved to be who they are.

The biggest laugh is out of the clowns saying they don't support the coach so they're not going as a protest. Protest means nothing since our attendance has sucked since i started going to games in the 80's. That group is just a bunch of entitled losers. You can find them on the UH fan message boards.

It’s simple really. Dana’s the issue but for this game it was pure Houston traffic at 6 pm. Sheer misery.

Just curious. Why are yall so obsessed with the attendance? It's a Houston issue not yalls. Conferences are paid by tv sets. Houston is a pro market. You're going to have games like this on a Thursday when all you hear about in Houston right now are the Texans, Rockets and the Astros annual October run. Losing to Rice to begin the season also will let the air out as well. It will be ok

Agree Coog. We're similar with the Reds and Bengals in town. I'm so damn tired of hearing about Cincinnati's stadium capacity when we fill it every game. Capacity didn't keep us from making the CFP.
