I had pretty high expectations for them last season that they obviously did not live up to. You are not sounding optimistic that they will rebound this season. I actually went to the JU v. BU game last season and even though JU lost, I thought they played well. It was possibly BU's best played game of the year. I think Mincy is a very good coach and am looking for them to do better this season

I do like Mincy a lot and JU has some potentially nice pieces. They get three players back that either missed the entire year (Workman) or played hurt (Powell & Cook). Outside of that no one on the roster has played for JU before. A lot of unknowns for this team. I think they could get to 20 wins like the 2021-22 team but for that to happen a lot would have to go right. #1 the 3 man Post rotation of Workman/Stephon Payne/Pruitt would have to equal or better the Post production of 2020-21. I think this is likely. #2 6-4 Wake Forest transfer wing Rob McCray will need to play near or at an All ASUN level. A definite maybe. #3 Powell & Cook equal last year's production in 10 mpg less. Doable. #4 PG JC transfer Marcus Niblack gives Mincy the 1st true PG that he has had at JU. That is another definite maybe.

I like this team but a lot of unknowns and an ASUN schedule that will not have many easy outs. JU was 6-12 in conference last year so a 9-7 record this year seems to be a nice rebound to me.

The season starts today for ASUN teams! Lots of games on the slate.

Alas, Suder got injured, and Hopf didn't play at all. If BU loses those guys for a significant amount of time, it is going to be a very rough season for the Knights.

FGCU almost upset the Hoosiers. They led by 6 midway through the second half.

Thanks. Yes, they did. Especially after being picked last in the preseason poll.

The opponent (D2 Johnson Univ FL) was not good but JU set a couple long standing school records in their 113-46 win the other night. The Dolphins broke a record for margin of victory (67 points) set in Dec 1969 by the team that played in the 1970 National Championship game vs UCLA. They also broke 42-year-old record for steals in a game with (23).

6 players scored in double figures and the three freshmen, 6-11 Tito Deng, 6-9 Donovan Rivers and 5-10 Jalen Griffith combined for 25 points and 20 rebounds.

Friday's game @ Xavier will be a much better indicator as to what we might have.

From November 26 thru December 6, UCF will face three A-Sun schools in a row: Stetson, Lipscomb, and Jacksonville. It'll feel a little like old times.

Thanks! I enjoyed watching a bunch of games in our previous 5,000-seat arena when we were in the A-Sun / TAAC. The current arena is awesome, though. I've got some great memories there, too.
