We're about to see what Paul is made of.

All I know about Paul is that under him my kids were lazily recruited and for the first a slovenly dresses fat chick wearing flip flops who didn’t know much about campus did the tour. When I contacted him he was a defensive and combative *****. They wisely chose to head north with my blessing.

Wow, encountering another student on a college campus different from you. How could anyone possibly cope with that?

Eagle Club, Alumni Association, etc. Always took kids to games. Other schools aggressively recruited them and offered solid scholarships. I was embarrassed.

I experienced this under Saunders. Legacy, grown up going to games, received zero recruiting because I was in the Jackson area. It took a strongly worded call from my dad to even receive a letter. Meanwhile, State and Ole Miss were flooding my mailbox.

I had a friend who worked in Admissions and Recruiting while we were at school. He let me know the school intentionally assigned their worst recruiters to Jackson Metro because they didn’t think they had a chance of getting kids from there anyway.

Professional what? She was a student. They come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Even “up north”.

Paul established a new scholarship program for students that can't qualify for admission: "An ACT score doesn’t tell the whole story of a student. Character, leadership, passion, and grit cannot be quantified. We want all students to come to Southern Miss with a purpose, to take the wheel and chart their path. These leadership scholars will positively impact and alter USM for the next generation." Sounds like our current border policy.

Dang, this is the guy that people have always wanted in charge?
I would think a student with admirable character and leadership traits would have a qualifying ACT score. (passion and grit left off intentionally).

Not specifically this topic, but generally the stated goals of contemporary higher education are somewhat ludicrous. Said education was once mainly for broadening the mind and thoughts of it's students not job training and this constant drum beating of dreams and goals.

Well, she had been asked to recruit so maybe she should dress professionally. It doesn't mean one is a professional something. It's just (or once was) a way to look respectable thus getting more ears. Also, don't forget he said she was ignorant in regards to the campus.

I was always told to dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
Yeah, I know you don't wear a tuxedo if you change oil for a living, but at least try to look professional. And before anyone starts belittling me for having this philosophy, I'm a professional and do ok for myself. Never went to college, just a high school grad, and worked my way up by continually trying to perform at a high level and present myself properly. If all I had in my closet was T-shirts, I wore the best T-shirt I had, tucked it in, and made an effort.

And to figure out what you wanted to do instead of doing it at USM or any of the other state universities.
