I know Tavelyn James will be inducted into the ring of honor.
Ryan Coleman is going into the Hall of Fame this year.
I hear that some of the most notable names to ever be attached to EMU hoops will be in attendance.

I dislike the scrimmage being before the homecoming game when many are tailgating.
I will heartily SECOND that! Homecoming football needs to be about football.
I realize the MBB golf outing is that weekend, but can't we get the MBB ring of honorees to a basketball game instead?
I think they’re worried about low attendance if they make it about basketball.
I think you are 100% right Tom. I, however, would prefer that they don't cannibalize the football attendance at Homecoming. I'm tailgating with my buddies and have ZERO interest in the MBB scrimmage. Whatever we did to get the big crowd at the Gervin renaming of the Convo, let's do that again. Leave the football crowd alone.

Agreed. Frankly, basketball doesn’t deserve this kind of concession right now.

Basketball gets a concession? That more than those who attended home games got last year.

Agree Jerry, however, I would love to chat with Earl, Derrick, Tolbert and Grant!
I attended the lunch component of the Men’s BB Golf outing:
*Grant Long, Charles Thomas, and George Gervin were all in attendance.
*Someone whose name I did not catch, but was the first Black player at EMU, was there and shot a full round of golf at age 92!
* Charlie Eibler (from back in the 90’s) was there and sponsored one of the events. Wholesale Mortgage was again the primary sponsor of the event
*Kevin David-Rice’s mom made some kind of contribution from Carl’s Golfland. Micah Schnyder’s dad was there and I believe sponsored an event as well. (A lady was helping organize whose name was Ketter-something, wondering if that was a relation to Prakash Ketterhagen but did not catch the full name).
*Talked to Micah Schnyders’ dad for a bit. The good news is he said his son was loving being at Eastern Michigan. Bad news is he has a shoulder injury already, hoping it will continue to heal. As a side note, he also mentioned that the Iceman has come by to some practices.
***Probably the biggest news: During the Nov 18 game against Cleveland St, Ben Braun is going to be in attendance. My wife heard they were going to “name the court” after him then- but I just heard he was going to be “on the court” for the game. Time will tell who is right, but it is usually her...

I hope your wife is right about Ben Braun. No one deserves it more than him.

Shot and moved the ball really well.
Has enough skill to make things happen with the ball in his hand.
Had active hands on defense.
Of all the guys, he impressed me the most.
He was the driving force behind the Green Team’s win.
McGriff and Ellerbe looked like they can play too.

Agreed Bob. Ben spent ELEVEN years in Ypsilanti before he got his power conference payday that many MAC coaches enjoy like Nate Oats, PJ Fleck and yes Stan Heath. As I have said before, EMU does a horrible job of honoring past success.

On the latest Eastern Insider podcast, Scott Wetherbee sounds really sincere about trying to do a better job of reaching out and having stronger relationships with our past legends. The Ring of Honor is a nice touch.

Really? Thought he’d be a freshman project. Who else was on the green team starting lineup? In any case, thanks so much for reporting this!
