you still gotta pick a school who has a program your current school doesn't have?

The NCAA has said from the get go that they are going to be strict about giving out second waivers. Wes gambled and Aziz and Reynolds gambled that the NCAA wouldn't stick to it's guns out of fear of a lawsuit. So far the NCAA is holding to it's statements though and any lawsuit is probably going to move to slow to help.

Unless they get the appeal, I wonder if either Aziz or Reynolds will ever see the court as a Bearcat. Next year they will both have the option to grad transfer without sitting out, plus pros could be enticing.

When you say Wes and the players "gambled" I would again ask, and the tweet and B12 media day video discussed, what caused the initial rejection of the waiver when the staff and players were confident they met the guidelines for the waiver? Obviously, some compliance folks had some involvement. I realize you can't 100% guarantee an approval but certainly the staff and players wouldn't want to risk something they felt strongly about. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out...

Obviously I don't know the details, but I wonder why they were so confident. It was rumored that several teams dropped out of the running for Aziz over waiver concerns. I don't think that reflects anything about his waiver specifically, more that nobody really knew/knows for sure what the NCAA is going to do and teams that had the choice wanted surety. Wes was willing to take the risk in exchange for getting a high level big man.

Hopefully they can win the appeal, or use the threat of a lawsuit to force the NCAA's hand. Without at least one of of Aziz/Reynolds, we are going to be undersized against pretty much every team in the Big12, which doesn't bode well against an already grueling schedule.

They should probably start playing this on a loop in the Lindner Center:

Because of student privacy issues i doubt we'll ever find out the merits of their respective cases. That said, when making public statements i can't imagine they would come out and say anything but that they were confident and that they met their burden. To claim otherwise would make them look reckless and irresponsible.

iirc, the unc case hinged upon "new" facts being presented to the committee that allowed them to reverse course. The ncaa accused unc of not providing that information in the first place, which started the domino effect of denying Tez eligibility. unc rejected that claim saying they provided everything to begin with. Of course all of this occurring after Mack went scorched earth on the NCAA and public sentiment turned against the ncaa.

Unfortunately, we'll never know who was actually at fault. Honestly, we won't even know if there was any merit to the reversal. For Jamille and Aziz, we can only hope that there's some magical new facts that will help them get their eligibility.

Maybe the big kid from Hawaii can find some game.

They talked about him on a BCJ podcast a little while back. I believe was the assessment was he is a skilled big, but needs to put on more muscle and learn to play with more physicality.

I'm excited to see Sage get some burn against the cupcakes but it seems like there's a slim chance that he breaks the rotation for Big 12 play.

Seems like we'd better off with Ody as the back-up 5 and Skillings/Reed/Simas as the back-up 4s.

Well they have two players who might not play, and that has to be tough because you plan to have them play, and now they're not going to play. But maybe they will later. So as a coach what do you do? And I think that's the challenge. Get your team ready with the guys who you know will play but also keep those players ready, so that if they can play, they can be ready to do. The coach always has to balance a lot of things, and I think that's the challenge. But I think they have a plan. Can the plan work? We will find out.

I bought season tickets for the first time and probably won't make it to a few of the games. Is Seat Geek the only way to sell the tickets aside from transferring to someone directly?
