Top Candidates for the Michigan State job
https://csnbbs.com/thread-977622.html

It looks like a copy and paste taken from the Athletic.

Mike Elko and Pat Narduzzi are on the list. Surprised Dave Clawson not mentioned even if it’s a fantasy list, I think he came from a Mac school so he should know the territory well.

I wonder if Pat has ran his course at Pitt or do y’all think he can take Pitt a little further?

If I’m a UC fan, I’m praying Elko gets the job. An ACC job in North Carolina would get their AD a do over on hiring a head coach as Satterfield would go all out for that job.

Well his agent will inquire about the opening upon his behalf if Elko leaves that’s definite. The way he talked about Duke last year or year before was like listening to someone reading soft porn or something. That’s probably more of his ceiling of a P5 school than trying to make things work at Louisville and now Cincinnati. Sorry Bearcats if he doesn’t jump you maybe stuck with him for a few years.

Mike Elko is a Jersey guy, it will take a lot for him to leave home.

Michigan State will have a hard time finding a coach.
After the previous scandal with the athletic training staff and now the football coach that made his living in the portal, it's going to take some big bucks to attract a viable candidate.

As a Pitt fan, I don't want Narduzzi to leave. I think he's the best coach Pitt has had in my lifetime. Whether he would go back to East Lansing or not remains to be seen. He's not a job hopper by any stretch but I could see the stars aligning for him to try for that position and for MSU welcoming him back ala Chryst at Wisconsin.

I would say that Dave Wanstadt, the stache was just as good. They didnt give the guy long enough time.

So is Dave Clawson liver or something?? If Clawson got the Michigan State job, would Satterfield apply for the vacant Wake Forest job??

I’m sure his agent would sniff it out. I personally don’t see Satt sticking around for 4 yrs in Cincinnati like he was able to do in Louisville. I think the AD or the new AD will cut him him loose after a couple bad years. Then it’s back to the Sunbelt or Southern if he is lucky enough.

Dave Clawson's career has almost been exclusively at small/private schools, with the exception being his short stint as the OC at Tennessee.

Although I respect your opinion, I disagree. Wannstedt was fine. I was disappointed when he was fired, however, I think Narduzzi is far better. Wannstedt never won the Big East.

As an outsider looking in, I, too, thought Wannstedt would've gotten Pitt to this level given the time. Alas, we'll never know.

Yes, he was the only coach to get Pitt to 10 wins in a season in almost 30 years, while coming second place in the BE. I dont remember what happened but I was very dissappointed when he was let go and I loved wachthing that guys teams and I loved his interviews. Plus his team stopped WV ffom likely playing in a NC game. That has to be worth something, lol.

If Jimbo gets fired from aTm, I think his coaching style fits the BigTen mold.

You posted this towards the beginning of the season but even with how the season has turned out, I think Narduzzi can take Pitt farther.

That being said, if I was a Pitt fan or AD, I'd have to take a hard look at why this season came off the rails and make sure he hasn't lost the locker room. There's some things you can't come back from.

But maybe it's a blip on the radar and Pitt comes back strong next year. If it's losing guys in the portal and not replacing through the portal, that's a fan base NIL problem. That's not really on the head coach.

Wow....
Things have sure have changed in 7 weeks.
I have a hunch there would be plenty of folks in Cincinnati helping their first year coach pack.

Duke gear was popular at my NJ HS back in the 1970s. Everyone thought the school was located somewhere in NJ.

Probably not going to make much noise this season, but I think Tom Herman would be a great hire. He’s never had a losing record and has been all over the country.
