QB Salter, being excited and cautions
It's fun watching the game to game improvement in Salter. It's almost like two different players from 2022 to 2023. There were flashes of exceptional athletic ability in 2022 in mobility and running. This year, there is touch on passes, comfort staying in the pocket and being more patient. A huge improvement from year to year. LU fans have reason to be excited.

The counter is that the level of competition is very weak. Buffalo looked like a team that has given up. Is the LU talent that much better than Buffalo? Is the LU coaching that much better than Buffalo? Is the whole program and mindset of LU that much better than Buffalo?

Salter had the ideal situation against Buffalo to develop his passing skills and put up impressive stats. A weak team without a focus. LU fans need to realize that as the competition improves (the MAC really appears to be weak) in CUSA, Salter may find the challenge much greater. Chadwell seems to be able to rein him in recognizing his accomplishments and keeping him grounded of needed improvements.

It's good to see the question of would be the staring QB be answered with consistent and improving play. Let's hope it continues.

QB Salter, being excited and cautions
Salter is a talented and young QB who should improve as time goes on. More improvement will also come as he becomes more comfortable in the new system. Definitely an exciting time to watch the O take off.

RE: QB Salter, being excited and cautions
Salter's game against FIU was a C+ to a B-. That was a lazy pass interception and the fumble near the goal line was a reminder of last year's play. The benefits are these type of experiences can be highlighted when watching film and serve as reminders to keep one's focus. Fortunately LU was in command the whole game and his mishaps did not place the team in a compromising position.

Yet, he is a young, maturing QB with great upside and his attitude seems to be improving. It's still time to be very excited about his play and upside.

JB seems to need more playing time to get his rhythm. We know there will be a time during the year when he will be needed. Good to see the HC got him some game reps.
