Last years game was so weird. We jumped out to a 21-0 lead and then seemed to relax. But with all the turnovers (both in that game and in both programs since that game) I dont know that last years game holds much value in predicting this one.

I think it will be close and relatively high scoring:

People have been talking about the week 2 jinx since the return…but it seems to go back much longer.
By my count, since moving to FBS in ‘95, we’re 5-21 in week 2. Even worse when week 2 is on the road at 2-18. Granted, we were big underdogs in many (maybe most) of those.

I hope that trend is broken, but I’m not betting against it

They are from the lowly Sun Belt. We will defeat them.

The Sun Belt is 3conferences in the rear mirror. We should be the better team. Not saying we are. Playing on the road needs to be our super power. I'm not sure about our O and D lines. Not sure about GS Oline or its entire defense. Edge to the Blazers. 34-23 Blazers. We are able to force 3 field goals and hold the Eagles off.

If our defense improves significantly, I think we win going away.

28-27 Blazers. We learn how to win these close games on the road again.

Actually, that’s about two wins better than I thought. I’ll be a bit optimistic here and say GSU 30 - UAB 21. (Notice I said ‘a bit optimistic’ and not ‘very optimistic’.)

The ESPN line is now Georgia Southern by 7.

That's a good question. Games all down the east coast have been delayed today because of lightning. I sure hope any lightning in Statesboro comes and goes long before game time.
