#_ Ole Miss @ #_ Tulane ESPN2
MY LINE: Tulane 30-26 Ole Miss's destruction of their week 1 opponent doesn't do enough for me to give them the edge over Tulane hosting them at this time. Tulane had a decent win over USA--I'd argue tougher competition.

Texas State @ UTSA ESPN+
MY LINE: UTSA 33-28 Texas State whupped up on Baylor and UTSA was in a tight, but low scoring game, at Houston. Texas State's performance last week gives me a 2nd look at them, but I think UTSA played much stiffer competition so...

Wagner @ Navy CBSSN
MY LINE: Navy 45-3 Navy had better blow this game out.

Marshall @ ECU ESPNU
MY LINE: ECU 35-23 Marshall looked lackluster against Albany, and ECU struggled stopping the #2 Wolverines last week. I think ECU can win this in its home opener. I think ECU's overall offense is still a question mark.

Tulsa @ #_ Washington P12N
MY LINE: Washington 45-20 I think Tulsa will make a slightly better game of it for Washington than Boise State did last week.

SMU @ #_ OU ESPN+
MY LINE: OU 43-30 I don't think SMU's defense can stop OU, but I do think SMU has the ability to score themselves, so it won't get ugly.

UAB @ Ga So ESPN+
MY LINE: UAB 33-27 Both teams destroyed inferior competition last week, t he score comes back down to the middle this week. UAB should be able to get the win though.

Ohio @ FAU ESPN+
MY LINE: FAU 27-23 Based on competition played and location, I'm giving FAU a narrow home win here.

UNT @ FIU ESPN+
MY LINE: UNT 27-23 Both teams look kind of suspect, but I think UNT can get over on the Panthers.

Houston @ Rice NFLN
MY LINE: Houston 35-18 I don't see Rice providing much competition here.

FA&M @ USF ESPN+
MY LINE: USF 31-20 I have to think USF can get this done in a double digit win.

Memphis @ ArkSt ESPN+
MY LINE: Memphis 40-20 Ark St looked pretty bad last week, but I think they are also a lot better than what Memphis played. I still think Memphis should dominate.

Charlotte @ Maryland NBC
MY LINE: Maryland 37-20 I don't think Maryland will be in any danger at home playing Charlotte.

Temple @ Rutgers BTN
MY LINE: Temple 21-20 I feel like this game is a toss up. I'm not willing to give road advantage to Rutgers based on blowing out Northwestern at home, when Temple beat an arguably better Akron team.

UAB @ Ga So

UNT @ FIU

Brutal. You don’t expect Rice to scalp a P5 when we beat Houston in the Bayou Bucket? That game is another winnable P5 pairing for the AAC.

I’m also interested in UTSA-Texas State for the same reason you have Marshall-ECU. We’ll find out more about who the Roadrunners and Bobcats (plus Baylor, where the scuttle around here is that the Bears may be Bottom 10 bad) really are.

Rice play has to exude more confidence in me before I'd be interested in them at a P5 team. Houston just moving over smack aside... If this was say, week 5 and Rice was on a upward trend.... yeah... I might move it to an "interesting to me" notation.

I'm curious to see how many tickets Ole Miss folks were able to get @Yulman...I'm hoping to see Tulane win at a packed house with very little red in the stands.

REALITY SAID: Ole Miss 37-20 Tulane was up till Ole Miss started to pull away in the 3rd... tough deal considering their quarterback situation.
0-1

Texas State @ UTSA ESPN+
MY LINE: UTSA 33-28 Texas State whupped up on Baylor and UTSA was in a tight, but low scoring game, at Houston. Texas State's performance last week gives me a 2nd look at them, but I think UTSA played much stiffer competition so...

MY LINE: Navy 45-3 Navy had better blow this game out.
REALITY SAID: Navy 24-0 Yeah...

Marshall @ ECU ESPNU
MY LINE: ECU 35-23 Marshall looked lackluster against Albany, and ECU struggled stopping the #2 Wolverines last week. I think ECU can win this in its home opener. I think ECU's overall offense is still a question mark.
REALITY SAID: Marshall 31-13 This game was a weird one. ECU has some real issues that need to be addressed before this season goes off the rails.
2-2

Tulsa @ #_ Washington P12N
MY LINE: Washington 45-20 I think Tulsa will make a slightly better game of it for Washington than Boise State did last week.
REALITY SAID: Washington 43-10 I would have thought Tulsa could have scored more...

MY LINE: OU 43-30 I don't think SMU's defense can stop OU, but I do think SMU has the ability to score themselves, so it won't get ugly.

4-2

UAB @ Ga So ESPN+
MY LINE: UAB 33-27 Both teams destroyed inferior competition last week, the score comes back down to the middle this week. UAB should be able to get the win though.
REALITY SAID: Ga So 49-35 A lot more offense than I figured. I am kind of surprised UAB got beat by 14 though.

6-6

Charlotte @ Maryland NBC
MY LINE: Maryland 37-20 I don't think Maryland will be in any danger at home playing Charlotte.
REALITY SAID: Maryland 38-20 ONE POINT away from a perfect pick. And the crazier thing is Charlotte was winning till the 4th when they gave up 21 points.
7-6

Temple @ Rutgers BTN
MY LINE: Temple 21-20 I feel like this game is a toss-up. I'm not willing to give road advantage to Rutgers based on blowing out Northwestern at home, when Temple beat an arguably better Akron team.

Bout what I thought. Respectable with back up qb, though.

UTSA 42 Tx st 31
utsa 20-13
Don’t know what happened here. Hope there arent serious injuries. Win is a win. TX state could probably beat 75% of our league.

Navy 24 Wagner 23 navy 24-0
Navy decide to play defense this week!

ECU 31 Marshall 17
marsha 31-13
Perhaps I need to get to know ECU a little better. Marshall played a soft brand of football post-Cato era in CUSA

Wash 45 Tulsa 17
wash 43-10
Bout what I thought

Oklahoma 45 SMU 24
Ok 28 -10
SMU playing with a little bit of motivation after their recent purchase?
Way to keep it within a few scores

FAU 35 Ohio 21
ohio 17-10
It’s funny Herman thought he was too good for us. Ohio has played a tough brand of ball for 2 decades. This score gives me hope UAB might be able to get a 2nd win.

UNT 31 FIU 21
FIU 46-39
This hire ain’t it, UNT. What’s the buyout?

Houston 34 Rice 21
rice 43-41
Again, I don’t respect Holgerson as a coach. Rice with a P5 win. Nice day for JT. Takes guts, grit, whatever you want to call it to win in 2OT.

USF 45 FAMU 17.
usf 38-24
Perhaps FAMU is better than I thought. Good tuneup for the bulls. Stay healthy next week and draw up the kitchen sink.

Memphis 45 Ark st 24
mem 37-3
As soft as the early comp may be, tigers taking care of business handily. That’s what y’all wanted back.

Maryland 38 Charlotte 17
mary 38-20
49ers made em earn it up front. Bout what I thought.

Rutgers 24 Temple 13
rut 36-7
Seems temple may be as bad offensively as UAB is defensively

10-4
Better than expected.

22-6 on the season

A small group of us have been saying the Rice athletics climate has changed under President Reggie DesRoches (as of July 2022). Our prior AD retreated to the private sector this summer and now Tommy McClelland is saying all the right things about what has to happen with football.

I think Mike Bloomgren is “on the clock”. Bloom has done some good things (we know the pain that FAU and USF fans are saying about prior coaches leaving the cupboard bare), but it just hasn’t translated into momentum building wins. The stars were aligning at HRS last night for Bloom to get a signature win over an overrated and overconfident UH team certain to be shopping for a new head coach after this season. I believed this would happen, and I think Bloom has the horses and motivation to notch a few more unexpected wins this season.

Rice also needs to slay the UTSA demons and the Roadrunners are looking beatable this year.
