Transfers on a Saturday night
Nothing like sitting at home on a Saturday night watching former Blazers...
Dylan Hopkins (New Mexico) vs. Texas A&M--had a decent first half, but then they just wilted down the stretch. (If Ryan Davis has played, I didn't see him. He doesn't have a catch, now in the 4th quarter.)
Drew Tuazama (South Carolina) vs. North Carolina. He's losing too.
Jaylen Key (that school) vs. Middle Tennessee. Has several tackles and a pick already.
I know some UAB fans are all about supporting our boys even when they transfer somewhere else. If they weren't getting a chance at UAB and went somewhere to get playing time, I'm all for them. But if they left for "greener pastures"...see ya. They are no longer Blazers.

I'll admit, there are times where I check to see if they're doing any better in a bitter ex type of way. Don't wish them bad or good, just seeing if it was worth it.

I’m petty. Can’t say that I wish the best for some. When a guy like RJS or Stanley leaves because he felt like he’s not getting the touches he wants or is being underutilized. You can swallow that pill.
When you leave a 1A/1B spot here to enter the portal, I hope your team loses every game.
Hopkins probably was going to get the TJ3 treatment if he came back, so he wasn’t going to start if he came back. That’s not the same type of move that Drew, Quincy and Jaylen all made.

this is exactly where I'm at. i don't want Key to be hurt...but I want him to be healthy and never see the field. Antonio Moultrie's playing time at Miami was pretty ideal for me

RE: Transfers on a Saturday night
Honestly, I am glad to read some of these comments. Most of the things I have read on this board in previous posts about players who transferred for "better opportunities" was along the lines that "they will always be Blazers to me" and "I will always pull for them." Not me. They bailed on us. I wouldn't have been a fan of them had they gone to another school to begin with, and so I'm not now. You don't want to play for my team, I don't want to pull for you.

I view it differently if they already fulfilled what would have been their eligibility and graduated from UAB. They did what they came to UAB to do.

RE: Transfers on a Saturday night
My take is that while I hate that they left, I pull for them to do great. Whenever one of them makes a great play and they say "the UAB Transfer", that's a compliment to the quality of players on the team. Someone hearing this could think UAB does have very good players such that [Alabama] "stole" one from them.
I also consider that this might be an opportunity to earn some money & get exposure. Let's face it, a player from Alabama (& Saban) will be looked at differently than a player from UAB by the NFL.

I’m guessing you’ve never left for greener pastures? If my top reps leave for greener pastures I will wish them the best & cheer their future successes. I only have ~3 years left before retiring, I’ve been with my company for 15 yrs & love working there, but if a competitor called & doubled my income I’d seriously consider it. I don’t think most of my work colleagues would be sour.

RE: Transfers on a Saturday night
Things will settle down on the portal after all these covid years are out of the system. There are some players getting 6 and even 7 years of college football. They are getting masters, even doctorates. In general it is encouraged and even sometimes necessary in academia to pursue graduate degrees at different institution than undergraduate. It isn’t just about PT or NIL or the NFL, is it? Five or more years in one place is a long time to be somewhere in anything.

People are going to be where they want to be. I agree that they can still be "Blazers" despite leaving.
