Interesting. I kind of thought the opposite. I thought uc was far more dominant and in control than the final score would have you believe. Some throw and pray from pitt worked out but those are the kind of plays that can easily end up in turnovers. (Score could have gone the other way with uc really running away with it) Never felt like pitt could sustain anything against our defense without bailout flags or some good fortune.

RE: Pitt Game
Pitt's last TD would have been an INT if our guys would look back for the ball.

And the 4th down td over pace was a crazy throw. Corleone destroyed the middle of the line and crushed the qb immediately. Pace was in good coverage but the ball was perfect.

Just felt like we were the better team all game.

I did not feel that way in the second half. Looking over the play-by-play...

UC punted on their first drive of the second half. They forced and recovered a fumble that led to a short field TD on their second drive.

UC punted on their next three drives. Jones was intercepted on the next drive.

Finally on the final drive UC was able to run out the clock.

Adding up the drives UC only had 103 total yards of offense in the second half.

Pitt's quarterback was 10/32 for the game, a 31% completion percentage. UC hadn't been that thoroughly dominant against an opposing quarterback since a 49-14 blowout against Miami in 2021. On the game, UC only allowed 262 yards of total offense and 4.3 yards per play, one of their most dominating defensive performances since Navy of last year. Hell, statistically, EKU's offense had more success against UC (302 yards, 5.3 yards per play) and Pitt was at home and has lead everyone to believe that they're a Power 5 FBS team.

Even ignoring those numbers, I wholeheartedly agree; my eyes could easily tell that regardless of what happened in the 4th quarter Cincinnati was by far the more dominant team on Saturday.

I agree. Most any road game against P5 competition will see momentum swing to the home team at some point. UC withstood Pitt's rally (that was assisted by some home cooking from the officials) and earned a quality win. It was certainly more of a feel good weekend for our hometown P5 team than our NFL franchise.

Agreed. Pitt’s TD in the first half was a lucky moon ball on third and 12 that gained 30ish yards. Then on another 3rd and 12 from the 18 or so the reds missed an obvious hold that prevented an easy sack which allowed a completion for a first down and a touchdown a few plays later.

The second touchdown was a great throw under pressure but based off Jurkovec’s accuracy the rest of the game that seems like it was a fluky on the money throw. Third touchdown was a legit decent drive and score.

We did dominate the first half, and they were obviously aided by several pass interference calls. But we barely won. We couldn’t move the ball in the second half. On to the next one vs Miami- will be there with a group of 10!

Taking my wife to her first game ever this weekend. The stars aligned in our insane work schedules to allow for a full three day weekend, and this will be her first taste of a real college football environment as I've turned her into a rabid UC fan over the last 6 years after really not caring at all about the sport (she played basketball at the College of Charleston and comes from a very small town with no football team in sight). Pumped it ended up a Nipp and Night AND a Blackout game too...going to be hard to top it.

That is awesome that you are able to go. I specifically chose Nip at Night for several people who’ve never been.

RE: Pitt Game
i agree the game felt much more dominant than the score. i cant remember seeing so many 3rd/4th and long conversions. half of them were converted by penalty, and the other half appeared to be either complete flukes or blatant holding no calls. Last time i saw dlinemen getting held that bad was when a sophmore metz was hopelessly trying to slow down chase young. Our dline was absolutely dominating and if the refs called even half the holds they should have not only does pitt's offense get shut down but jones gets more opportunities and in better field positions.

x100

Now the QB is in obvious passing downs where we can ramp up the pressure and force quick(er) throws and potentially some mistackes. The lack of holding calls was a huge factor.

I have been seeing an absolute lack of holding calls in high school this year too. If I were a coach, I would teach the kids all the less than obvious ways to hold.

Yep. I am not one to blame the officials, but I saw 2 blatant holds, watching the highlights, since i did not see the game live. And i mean blatant, right in your face, grab that jersey as Briggs and i think Corleone completely dominated their blocker.
