Jerome Ford

In the last couple drives the camera kept zooming in on / showing Ford. He was shaking his head, and frustrated. I wonder how he would do if he ever got the ball on 1st or 2nd down early in the game. Looks like Chubb has excellent vision.
What are his chances Ford can stay in the League past his first contract? He is a likeable Bearcat, and I want him to stick.

I mean at that point in the game the Bengals were just keying on the run because the Browns were just running out thr clock. They shut down Chubb pretty good earlier in the game too.

Ivan Pace with 8 tackles in his first NFL game.

His PFF grade was 75.0, which is 17th best among all NFL linebackers for week 1 (although I don't know if the Monday Night game is included yet)

Ford is also coming back from a soft tissue injury [hamstring] during the preseason. It was unsure if he could be ready for week one. Obviously, he is ahead of schedule but I don't think he's 100% yet including game conditioning. The Browns really like him and he also typically runs back kickoffs.

Not many teams offer the opportunity for an undrafted FA to come in and earn a starting job so I'm thankful he ended up where he did.

Not to mention, the UDFA costs less, which may be the difference in the last few cuts.

I think most teams still give the benefit of the doubt to their rookie draft picks over UDFAs. If I recall/understand it correctly, much of the first contract money comes in the form of a signing bonus so there isn't really much to save with cutting this year's draftee for a UDFA.

I think the other factor that works against UDFAs is that they are less likely to get picked up by other teams when cut. So it increases the odds that the team that cuts them can still stash them on their practice squad versus a draft pick.

Jerome Ford with the nifty 69 yard run, just a foot or so short of a TD. He can still fly.

Great game by Ford, and he'll be the bell cow up there...Chubb's career might be over after that injury with his other two to the same knee.

Outside chance at back to back defensive ROYs.

Ridder's time might be done...he has been awful today against a relatively porous Lions defense.

I tell my friends here in Cleveland that Ford was a great Bearcat. Chubb is the best - but Ford and Hunt will do fine.

There was a really nice article on Ford in today’s Plain Dealer. I am really happy for his success.
