Suites in the south end zone??? Please explain. I have no idea how they would doo it.

Gee sorry Steve Scott didn't show us any blueprints or diagrams. He did say it would be three or four suites. Its the area they had tents last year.
I interpreted the "suites" to be separate picnic areas. Tables, chairs, maybe a canopy. No permanent structures. Kind of like the area last year. Again, just me interpretation.

He did say the kid's play area would be down there too.

I didn't attend the event, but that's how I interpreted it as well. Some covered tables and chairs and maybe something like a TV if they really go all out with it.

‘79 - great summary!!!

One of the 5 pillars that coach Creighton built his program on was “Academics First” and this is no smoke screen. EMU football has the highest APR (Academic Progress Report) in the MAC for five consecutive years. This got a standing ovation from the fans - well done EMU football!!

Prayers out to you’79

Thanks Wooden. That was my understanding as well. Nothing permanent.

Dear Friends,
Not to be contrarian, but did Wetherbee say suites? If, he did, that means more then picnic tables and television sets.
I hope you are going to beat the cancer, emu79. Best wishes!

'79, I hope you are doing well and getting better

In regards to the event, was this well attended? I would hope so and am hoping to see the excitement grow given the team we have this year and coming off a bowl win.

Yes it was packed. More season tickets being sold. We should see an uptick in attendance and interest this year.

Oh one more thing - Coach Creighton must have been impressed with my dad bod because he tried to recruit me at my old age (lol)

RE: Football Event on7/26
We need to square the circle (or whatever).

1). We are going to have "some kind of suites" in the south end zone.

2). The track is there but going away, presumably in the next year or two.

3). Any "suites" are most likely some kind of temporary arrangement,.

4). Once the track is removed... lot of speculation over the years. Some in the athletic facilities thread about what changes would be possible. I would like green Field turf to the stands AND do something artistically creative to reduce VISUALLY the distance from the stands to the playing field.

That said, we have not had good speculation about what to do with the south endzone w/out the track being there.

Vanzee confirmed the southend suites in a tweet. We were sitting right next to him while we were eating. I can't recall anything about the track being discussed at the event.

I watched an interview that Brian Dooley had with Westherbee at media day and Weatherbee said he would like the track removed in the next 2 years

Sounds good. Thanks.

BTW, I think this is all one big package:

Move the track, re-do the football field and convert the "old" track, and then come up with a semi-permanent or permanent something in the south end zone.
