Exclamation Former ECU coach going for back to back USFL titles
https://www.theusfl.com/championship-pit...oxscore-89

Got the Pitates back to back cusa tiles and now going for the same repeat in the usfl. Good for him. Wondering if he gets an nfl call up based on his performance in the pro game.

I have been impressed. He seems like he is flourishiung in pro football. I think that is where he will remain.

He has always been a good manager. I’m not surprised he has done well with professional athletes.

If he went to the NFL I honestly think it would be in the front office. I can’t see him getting a HC job right now, and his background is in offense which I don’t think he has the best resume for running a modern day NFL offense either. He could probably be a position coach but I can’t see him going for that.

I'm surprised he's doing so well. His teams at Louisiana Tech were average and underwhelming, but maybe he did the best he could with limited resources and poor conference affiliation. In hindsight, I bet he regrets leaving ECU. He hasn't had much success since that time until now.

He might regret leaving ECU but he shouldn’t. He caught lightning in a bottle with Chris Johnson who ended up there because of a blown up knee in high school and a random connection, and then rolled into a NFL D-Line with NQs.

Not to take anything from Holtz, but they've easily had the best talent in the league. He has a lot to work with. The other teams aren't even coming close. There's some tweaking that needs to happen to the USFL's process of distributing players.

Say what you want about Holtz. The teams in USFL were all given equal chances at signing players. Birmingham lost top QB, RB and WR this season. 21-3 overall record for the 2 seasons. I think USFL hoped New Jersey would be the king with such a mega media market.
Birmingham had a an advantage by being the home team in every game year 1. But it was not much really. Every player was "home" in Birmingham. Attendance was low as spring ball was trying to take hold. The South Championship game had great attendance but that advantage was earned by being the best team.
Holtz also had a 21 year old as his Player Director.

Based on the two season results along with the injuries and player turnover, I don’t think anyone can dismiss the job Skip Holtz has done for the Stallions.

Would you rather have Holtz or Dilfer right now?

Coach Holt did an outstanding job for ECU on and off the field. One negative is way he left .
