I could see Memphis getting in, but you'd have to argue their place over Utah / ASU / SDSU, and UConn apparently.

it would be easy to argue us in over UConn(ed)
Football drives the bus...and Memphis has invested more into football recently than UConn. UConn football isn't watched in New York/New Jersey...or even Connecticut for that matter...so there is no real benefit to adding them.
Memphis on the other hand gives the Big 12 a team in the heart of SEC country. When/if we ever get our football sorted out (this year will tel that tale)..we'll bring more eyes to a tv market than UConn ever would. We'd also bring more of a crowd than UConn would.
We saw the giant leap forward that Memphis made with the AAC giving us more money...and access to better recruiting...the Big 12 would do even more of the same for Memphis.

The fact that UCONN is being mentioned as a Big12 candidate goes to show how laughable this whole charade has become. UCONN, Memphis, Fresno State and SDSU ? Are you kidding me? The Big12 doesn't need any of those schools. No one is inviting those schools unless it's as backfill. The Big12 doesn't need backfill. It's one of the top 4 conferences now. It's only asking established P5 schools in the West that bring value to it's media deal.

Hard to argue this. The ONLY thing Memphis brings is renovation of the Liberty Bowl, and a potential B12 Football Championship game sponsor. But that wasn't good enough before and won't be now.

Is it? If we’re purely talking about football, no one needs Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Washington State, Kansas and a myriad of other schools. Most of us could come up with a long list of P5 schools that will never compete for anything of consequence. Maybe those that are moving up won’t either, but I hope the expanded playoff brings more parity to college football b/c it’s boring the s#it out of me.

I strongly encourage and applaud your decision. It takes guts to admit it on a public message board, well done.
