I actually think it is just a football job, based on his previous experience.

Not complaining about creating the position, just question it being dedicated exclusivey to one sport in which I find it hard to believe would be a full time job....

This is my brother. I’m a pretty infrequent poster on here, but attended WMU 2012 - 2016. I am super proud of him.

His role is specific to football & the idea is to have more content surrounding the team in the coming year.

While it may have “zero impact on winning” as somebody noted, Western needs to explore ways to build its brand and provide more content for fans/alum/prospective recruits. That in itself is a win, as it’s been limited over the last few years.

He’s an extremely hard worker & great kid! Staff has treated him very well, too. Excited for what’s next.

"Western" as you stated (or should in be WMU? Western Michigan? Western Michigan University?) definitely needs a lot of help in building/improving it's brand. Athletics is an important tool in building a brand as they can increasing the school's reputation, visibility and also generating money. Unfortunately Proudfoot and Montgomery have no clue how to execute this.

The best way to build/improve the brand is to produce a "winning product". Prospective recruits, fans and alumni will be attracted to a winning program. Without this, it is just smoke and mirrors.

Our website content is lackluster compared to Eastern and Central. We don't have media guides or programs anymore. What ever online content is produced is in front of a back drop with one camera. Highlight packages are inconsistent, amateur productions. Our twitter is fine but nothing spectacular. Our stadium is looking shabby and rundown with inconsistent logos, colors, wordmarks, etc... a lousy sound system and a dying atmosphere thanks to a horrid schedule. Whoever this person is has a hellofa task in front of them because this program has become an aesthetic disaster on top of being very mediocre on the field.

It is objectively worse. Our website is worse than it was 20 years ago. We produce no publications, have no social media footprint. Its really hard to follow this program

Those posts are getting reposted by other college football pages and right now have 3x the engagement of a typical WMU football post. They are promoting the product and getting more eyeballs on the program.

They definitely are cheesy graphics. But WMU's presence and engagement on social media has skyrocketed in recent history.

The WMU Football X (formerly known as twitter) account has for sure stepped up. The play by play and drive summary graphics are nice.
