2023-24 ASUN Basketball Season
It's always too early & never too early to discuss next year, but since Lunardi is posting his '24 bracketology, I figure someone might as well get it started 04-rock

Looks like he's picking EKU to come out of the ASUN next season, & interestingly enough, he has soon-to-be CUSA member Liberty also making it, just one line up. Two upsets in those teams' favor, & we'll have a battle of two '23 ASUN members for a spot in the Sweet 16 in the South.02-13-banana

See y'all in Dallas 04-cheers

Just goes to show, the disrespect that goes into most non major conferences....

If both EKU and Liberty was still in the ASUN, would both be picked.... nope....

RE: 2023-24 ASUN Basketball Season
Jacksonville will be in a total rebuild after a disappointing 2022-23 season. Gone are all five starters plus some depth pieces. Included are three bigs, Mike Marsh (Oklahoma State), Omar Payne (UCF), Oumar Koureissi (Nicholls St) that transferred.

I like the talent that Mincy is bringing in and think that the Dolphins will be competitive.

Is that disrespect or just logistics?

Yeah, I see both sides. Is the ASUN more competitive than the other 1-bid leagues? I'd like to think so.

But, I'm honestly not sure. When was the last time the ASUN got an at-large team in?

RE: 2023-24 ASUN Basketball Season
The ASUN will once again try the East-West division format for the 2023-24 basketball season.

From the article:

The conference released the league schedule for its 12 men’s teams on Thursday. Like the ASUN announced with the women’s slate on Wednesday, the men’s teams will play 16 conference games, including 10 against divisional opponents that will be home-and-homes. The other six will cross-division matchups.

The top five teams from each division will make the ASUN tournament. The first round begins March 4 with the final set for March 10.

The ASUN introduced divisions for the first time since 2002-03 in 2020-21, but did away with them last season.

North Alabama will be in the West, along with Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb.

That I'm not sure of, but according to nearly all computer models there are plenty of one-bid leagues in front of us. Last year Sagarin had us as the #21 conference our of 32 for example. The best chance for a league like us to get two teams in is to have one super-dominant team that get's upset in the conference tournament.

Liberty was maybe close-ish to pulling that off last year I suppose, but not quite.

Yeah, I agree.
Last year's NCAA Tournament results really should have the committee rethinking it's bid structure. They really can't justify going so deep into the "power" conferences.

I agree... it's, in my opinion, why the realignment is out of hand.

School X- "I can just show up and we have a good shot at the tournament ". That's not how it should be.
