UVA and VT cancelled games
Sorry if it’s a bit of a sensitive subject considering the circumstances, but how will those cancellations effect the ESPN payout to the ACC? If the ACC is dinged for those cancellations, will the entire ACC take the hit or just those 2 schools?

Now to the point: Is that a beach of contract by the ACC? If ESPN adjust the payout, could FSU or the Mag7 claim damages and get out of the ACC that way?

ESPN would rather pay for a cancelled game than do anything that releases FSU early.

It’s a hypothetical question, but is that grounds for a breach of contract? Is the GORs null and void or does the GORs bind the ACC together whether ESPN or someone else is the media provider?

This kind of eventuality is covered in the contract, I'm sure.

The games were canceled because of the mass shootings at UVA that killed some UVA’s players. I’m sure ESPN is super excited about clawing back money in a situation that couldn’t possibly result in an easily foreseeable public relations nightmare.

It seems like ESPN would have to show some kind of loss. They should have to prove what ever they put on in place of the cancelled games didn't make as much money and/or incurred added expenses.

I'd love it if the OP would've explained it. Garrett I'm not Green who posts in a different level of consciousness. ;-)

The cancellation of a game or two due to an emergency situation is not worthy of cancelling a very large contract. See COVID.

Under OP's theory, Fox should be suing the B1G for the many games they during COVID.

Fox IS suing the Big Ten (for $25M) for the lost COVID games - and a bunch of other things. I blogged about that situation here: OT: Problems in B1G Land

$25MM is not much for the number of games missed by the B1G. UVA v. VATech cancelling over a school shooting would make any party look very, very bad. Besides, the character of the parties is such that they would try and more than likely reach a private agreement if there was a dispute. Just my opinion.
