You haven't seen our new Jordan designs, then. They are nothing like Houston's nauseatingly generic design.
Ours will be highly influenced by our designs from the 90s.
I hope they don't mess with our font that has made us identifiable. Go ahead and work it into their nike-ness but leave the font alone.
The "Cincinnati stripe" from the Tuberville years... they can pitch that.
I like the stripe more than 3 random rectangles, but that's just me.

I haven't seen them - just judging by what other Jordan teams have. They all look like they are wearing unis from the '60s or '70s

If this is what the athletes and youngsters want we should be all in. Give the kids what they want.
I personally buy a lot of Peter Millar, Homefield and Cutter & Buck. Then again I am in my 40's versus 20's.

Replace Cutter and Buck with VRST and BYLT and I'm right there with you. Crazy how much of my closet/dressers are filled with things my 21 year old self wouldn't be caught dead wearing lol.

It will almost assuredly be less money than that UA deal, but that's fine...it's red meat to all of the people still stuck in the 90's athletically at UC, so it's a win for the athletic department.
Yeah, these guys keep overstating the importance of this. It might be beneficial in selling some additional gear, we might even move from a Top 35 recruiting program to a Top 25 recruiting program-- but we aren't going to be beating out Kansas, UNC, Duke, heck even Ohio State out for recruits because of it. Nobody outside our own fan base and perhaps the guys that beat off over tennis shoes are even going to know this is a thing.
It matters to the 17 and 18 year old kids. Like, a lot.

I know Alabama draws a lot of recruits with their flashy gear.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like that...I hope that doesn't mean we end up with the basic/****** football jerseys a lot of other teams end up with in similar situations.
It honestly reads like a local high school deal, we have the rights to wear Nike and Jordan, but we aren't a Nike/Jordan school and are working with a group like Eastbay to get jerseys and equipment. Hope we can break through quickly in one of the sports to make an apparel company actually want us.

i actually thought i saw eastbay listed as one of the brands under bsn. This actually makes me sad. Like we went to a nike factory outlet with a corporate amex.

I know some are over the moon about this impending deal. I'm a bit nonplussed by it all.
I'll soon go in the bookstore and find black polo shirts with a C-Paw and now a Nike swoosh replacing the UA emblem. Looking around college football and basketball last season in anticipation of a change for UC, I found Nike/Jordan uniforms and fan gear looked like cookie cutter designs these days. If the recruits and players like it better, great. UnderArmour created some unique looks for UC. Not everyone was wild about the "Cincinnati Stripe" but it was unique to our program.
Twenty years from now people will be clamoring for retro jerseys from the CFP season with that Cincinnati Stripe.

Yep, I'm kind of in the same boat...a lot of Nike football jerseys look like borderline practice equipment and there is no identity whatsoever to their basketball jerseys outside of the very highest value properties among their rolls, of which we are not. The more I look at it, it seems like people are really going nuts over seeing 3 squares on 15 guys legs 20 years ago and not realizing that we had some of the more identifiable jerseys in CFB over the last few years which are going away completely. I doubt we will be able to roll with "The Cats" anymore too, which were my favorite jerseys that I've seen UC wear dating back to the mid-90s.

RE: Rumors of new apparel deal
Everyone wants to be with Jordan/Nike if possible so I’m good with it. Last night on the BCJ it was noted how much Fickell was pushing for Nike which I was unaware of but found interesting. It wasn’t really explained why though.
Wes has been pushing for Nike/Jordan to but that plays a much bigger part in basketball recruiting than with football.
- CFP year football jersey should be standard for football.
- Jumpman UC basketball jerseys should be the standard for bball. Freshen up the design and baggy to modernize is all IMO. I do love “The Cats” if we could keep it as an alternate retro thing here and there.
My favorite jerseys since I was a kid for football have been LSU and Michigan. Basketball I’d say North Carolina and UCLA.

+1. Here is the link to BSN’s catalog. If I were a betting man I think our new uniforms will look similar to Houston’s, obviously with some changes fi account for color scheme and logo.

So should the BSN part of this deal be interpreted as Nike had no interest in doing a deal directly? Because that's how most are reading it.
Or are there other reasons why BSN has to be involved?

UC was already in a BSN deal as part of their settlement with Under Armour when Under Armour had major financial issues and was backing out of the lucrative deals with various universities. That deal involved a major payment and discounted under armour gear from BSN through 2024 (I believe that was the year).
UC essentially just switched to Nike/Jordan through BSN with the hope that as the supply chain and market for apparel improve the next couple of years, they'll be position for a direct deal with Nike.
I don't think it speaks to a lack of interest, but more to the deal currently in place, and ability of the university to maneuver to set themselves up to get what they want down the line. We'll see how it plays out, but in the mean time, exciting to be back with the Jordan geer for basketball.

I give up. I clicked on about 10 BSN webpages and still have no idea what BSN stands for. Is it Bearcat Sports Nation or something similar? Or more of a non-UC thing?
