The problem with a National Divorce is our enemies are not going to set by and watch. The Chinese, Russians, Iranians, Saudis, Cuba and a dozen other dictatorships will be on the shores of both new countries immediately.
Our enemies would be supporting one country and preparing to attack the other. I’ll let you figure out who the police states and banana republics of the world would support.
The point is you can’t simply divide the country by extending the Mason Dixon wall westward from Missouri to the border of California. There are two many red areas in the Midwest North of the line that lean conservative to simply give up the states. Each state would have to decide for itself.
When I think about Kentucky, I know rural areas would vote Red and urban areas, Blue. Thankfully it would end up overwhelming Red, so what do we do next?
As satisfying as it would be to go into urban areas like Louisville and Lexington to take out the trash, what do we do with them? How do we know if a person is Red or Blue on the inside? Voting records? That’s an idea. What would we do with Independents? What about those who don’t vote? Do we force Independents to finally stop being lukewarm and choose a side? Do we let those who don’t vote stay as long as they had a job and weren’t a burden to the rest of the new country?
Areas like Louisville, Lexington, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Richmond, Norfolk, St Louis, Houston, Dallas and New Orleans would finally be cleansed of the illness that’s affected them for decades. Liberal decadence would be washed away and the people would finally have an opportunity to clean up their neighborhoods without being accused of being racist, homophobic or whatever other label the left uses to describe people who don’t swear allegiance to their twisted ideology.
The Red States would immediately have the expense of building and securing walls along all of its borders to keep Liberals from fleeing their Blue utopia. The present military would be divided. Red States would keep the bases, military hardware and weaponry now posted in each state. Since the majority of American soldiers are from Red States
See Here immediate security needs would be addressed. It’s telling that states like New York, those presently working overtime to jail their political opponents, silence critics of their totalitarian government, would be the places with the fewest soldiers in the present military. (Gutless and Nutless?) For too long soldiers from Red States have fought and died so they can have their freedoms taken away by policies pushed by liberals in Blue States. It makes sense now. No wonder the DC elites were so quick to leave our service men behind in Afghanistan. Blue States would immediately have a security problem. I’m not sure an army of flannel wearing women, and limp wristed, dress wearing peckerless men would be enough.
As satisfying as all of that sounds, a Liberty Split wouldn’t be easy and there would be a price to pay by both sides. I doubt either side is willing to pay it.
