Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would understand the significance of people who work for the MEDIA weighing with their own political issues. People who work in media SHOULD be a-political when it comes to current events so that they can write/report on a news item with as little bias as possible. For years and years this was a source of pride with the media. It was a critical component of journalistic integrity.

What we see from our "journalists" today would be analogous to a person working as an evolutionary biologist who believes in a literalist view of the Genesis creation stories.
