I would have featured BC vs anybody.

My understanding is that BC didn't travel well last time. GT had 12K and BC had 6K. I bet GT brings 12K again and FSU brings 24K.

The 2024 game at the Aviva Stadium is estimated to be worth €69 million to the Irish economy

Padraic O'Kane, Irish American Events Ltd, commented, "Next year's fixture, which will see the welcome return of Georgia Tech and the first visit of Florida State, will be the third consecutive season-opening game of the US College Football Season cementing Dublin's position as the European Headquarters of College Football. This fixture will attract 20,000 plus US visitors staying on average seven nights throughout Ireland, in addition to four million plus live US TV audience via ESPN showcasing Ireland at its very best on a global stage. A full program of leisure, business, academic and sporting events will take place throughout game-week 2024 as part of the Much More than a Game steering committee enterprises."

RE: Aer Lingus College Football Classic 2024: GT vs FSU
How Georgia Tech’s game vs. FSU in Ireland came together

“Florida State had told me they were interested in doing it, and when I looked at years and schedules and opponents …” said Aer Lingus College Football Classic co-founder John Anthony stated. “There’s three SEC schools that aren’t drawing 90,000 that have said they would like to do it.” However, neither the Big Ten nor the SEC was an option for 2024, as neither conference has yet to make its scheduling model for that year as both are undergoing expansion. That led Anthony to the ACC, which sent Boston College and Tech in 2016 in the first Aer Lingus game.

The ACC new scheduling model was to bring the Seminoles to Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2024. “Their following in the 2016 game, they brought more people than Boston College,” Anthony told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We don’t forget things like that.”

Not only does Florida State have a fan base likely able to travel en masse to Dublin, but Tech had already proven that it does, too. In 2016, Tech brought more than 12,000 fans to Dublin, larger than the reported estimate of Nebraska’s most recent contingent to Dublin(10,000).

It is a significant factor – the game is an important tourism event for Ireland, as evidenced by an Irish cabinet member and the chief of the Irish consulate in Atlanta both attending the news conference. Organizers are counting on the Tech-FSU game to bring in $74 million to the Irish economy.

"You've (FSU) already topped the highest sales of any school", in the history of the game Says John Anthony, the Dublin game organizer

Aer Lingus College Football Classic organizer: 'We Wanted Florida State'
There was a ton of interest in the game in Ireland but the Aer Lingus College Football Classic organizer held out for the Seminoles.

According to the organizer of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, John Anthony, there has been a ton of interest from teams across the country to facilitate a game in Ireland. Anthony was contacted by at least one SEC program and two commissioners during the game in 2022.

"This year's game when Nebraska and Northwestern were playing was really an inflection point. During the game, I received texts from an SEC head coach, an SEC athletic director, two commissioners, and untold others while they were watching the game," Anthony remarked on Tuesday. "Again, how often on a Saturday during the fall are you sitting around watching a game? That's another value of week zero. Everybody watching the game and seeing the atmosphere that was alluded to here. Our interest is extremely high. This month we'll be signing contracts for our 2027 game, for instance."

The Seminoles represent a brand that Anthony and the Aer Lingus College Football Classic wanted to bring to Ireland. That meant passing up a couple of other parties who were also interested.

"This one came about because of your brand and these two gentlemen right here [Mike Norvell and Michael Alford]," Anthony said. "The two of us and chairman Collins were at an event this fall. Relationships and conversations start. There were a lot of people reaching out, we had a couple that I was slow-playing the best we could."

"We wanted Florida State, so that's how this happened."

Florida State's fanbase is already making a dent on ticket sales. Anthony noted that the Seminoles have already compiled the highest sales by any school in the first week since the game has been announced. That includes more interest than a school such as Notre Dame, which has played in Ireland twice since 1996 and has a third game scheduled for August 26, 2023, against Navy.

Probably not much more expensive than staying in an Econo Lodge in Tallahassee for the weekend. I heard over this past Saturday is for FAMU graduation hotels were charging $400 a night.

Also, compare airfare to Tallahassee vs. airfare to Dublin...

Lots of options for FSU in Ireland without Tech... BC, Cuse, Memphis, ND, Miami, UNC, NC State, Florida, UVA...

The ND/Navy game this September at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland is sold out.

In 2012, ND and Navy brought 35,000 American tourists over to Ireland for the game.

Aviva Stadium holds 50,000 fans, so it looks like about 15,000 locals attend the game.

This year should duplicate that result.

Díolta amach. Sold out.

Either way you say it

Aviva Stadium is going to be a packed house ☘️

It is expected that over 39,000 Americans will travel to Ireland for the Navy vs. Notre Dame game. It is expected to be a world record for the most Americans traveling internationally for a single sporting event.

Syracuse ORANGE might not be too popular in Dublin. Belfast is a different story.

In ND's case, it just doesn't like the very idea of clubs at all.
