Dominique Camp goes to .... drum roll ... Syracuse. So, one year later than the other Buffalo players, but ends her career with Coach Legette-Jack.

Oh one more interesting one, former UT Rocket Mickayla Perdue is in the portal, after spending one year at Glenville State, and getting recognized for all-American honors by WER, one presumes she's looking to bounce back to DI.

Buffalo continues to work the DII transfer route, getting a commit from 5'3 G Rana Elhusseini from Edinboro. Averaged 19 points, 6 reb and 5 assists as a junior. 6 rebounds for a 5'3 player is impressive. Originally from Dearborn, MI.

Welcome to the board Perry....

Will she stay in the league??????? I don't know a lot about her but the league is changing all around us via portal and things are stable at UT as of now. I'm interested to see if we add 1 or 2 players from portal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we have any open scholarships at the moment and would need someone to leave in order to have a transfer join.

I'm pretty sure we have two spots available.

Doubt she will be alone.

Maybe, depends on who the new coach is. Tate may even come back.

I think the other starters will hang around...which are only Fleming, Velasco, Hampton and Sharps who has already transferred once. Brett and Day are gone.

Hill and Dziekan are due to become starters and have hugely increased minutes, so it doesn't make much sense for them to go anywhere.

But again...all depends upon the new hire most likely.

Being reported that Hampton and Brett are both in the portal now. (Brett has another year available.) Can't independently confirm any of those right now, but those are the three players that I would think could end up at Michigan State next year.

Ziggy folks saying that as well. Brett was leaving even before the coach left. She went through her Senior day activities and most reports were that she was going back home to Australia to perhaps play pro ball. It's quite possible that Robyn convinced her to stay and head to MSU for a year.

No idea what Hampton's thinking. She's too slow and short to do much in the Big Ten IMO if she's going to MSU.

By my count, at this early stage, 11 of the top 16 scorers in the MAC are not returning next year. That includes 6 in the transfer portal and 3 one year rentals. There are only 2 of the eleven who have played out their eligibility. I don't see how this can not be a problem for the league.

RE: MAC WBB Transfer Portal: 2023
Teams will be built differently now. LSU won a national championship two years after a nine-win season. Next year, Buffalo will be one of the best four teams in the conference with an almost all new roster. Good teams will have a better chance of keeping their players than bad teams.

This year will be difficult for the MAC because one good team and one decent team lost their coaches, so those teams will be starting from scratch. Otherwise, all of the losses come from teams that were not very good last year. Toledo, Ball State, and Kent State should come back pretty strong, although Ball and Kent each lost some valuable players due to used up eligibility. I expect Buffalo to be pretty good for the next couple of years until their coach moves on. Central Michigan, Ohio, and Miami all lost good players, but those teams were already bad and probably will not be any worse.

I predict NIU, Ohio, EMU and UB to heavily compete for the top 4. I'd say BG and Akron will fall into the bottom 6.

I'm curious as to what you might know about those teams that I don't. My take on your four teams:

Buffalo - I agree with you.

Ohio - Returns no one good. Bolden has had success in the past, but it's hard for me to see Ohio being any good at all next year.

EMU - Castro is a horrible coach who has done badly with much more talented teams than he will have next year.

NIU - The Huskies were a confusing team this year, as they beat good teams and lost to bad ones. Losing Davis is huge.

My top four would be Toledo, Ball State, Kent State, and Buffalo (in no particular order, except for Toledo first). Of course, it's premature to predict, as more transfers will be coming in.

Big news today, Oesterle is out at CMU.

Boy they waited a long time to make that decision, and so they are way behind both in finding a new coach and putting together a roster for next year. More players maybe available in current CMU players or their signees, including Lexi Boyke.

Other news:

Buffalo gets another player in G Katie Burton from St. John's. From Fishers, IN, had a UT offer out of HS. Barely played in 2 seasons at St. John's.

Akron's Layne Ferrell has committed to Wright State. That's likely a good get for WSU, given last year's roster had no size whatsoever, but she's a guard, not a post, so will have to see how they use her. Surprised she didn't go to a better team.

Although it is too soon to make any solid predictions until the rosters all shake out, but I agree that I see no shot for Ohio to be near the top of the league next year. Losing Felder who was essentially their entire offense, and Kroll (their 2nd best player) graduating, they either need to sign some big help in the portal or hope a couple of their freshman are phenoms.

Kent State also lost a lot to graduation, so they have a little rebuilding to do. Buffalo is a complete unknown to me, as they again lost literally 80% of their production to graduation. They do get Chellia Watson back after being declared ineligible last year, so that should help, but will not nearly replace losing Stone, Winfield, Young and Perkins. They have added a couple role players from the portal, but they will need help from their 7 incoming freshmen and 1 JUCO transfer to move up much above 8th.

No idea what Hampton's thinking. She's too slow and short to do much in the Big Ten IMO if she's going to MSU.

Hampton was super-quick on defense - IMO the best on-ball defensive guard the MAC has seen since, I dunno, maybe Andola Dortch. I think she can definitely be a solid role-player for a B10 team.

It seems a lot of people still seem to think even the best MAC players won't be able to compete at all at P6 schools, but the evidence to date shows the contrary. Yeah, they aren't gonna be the next Caitlin Clark, but the B10 is better than the MAC not just because of the few super-stars, but because of the depth they have with each team having 7-10 really good players who contribute, where most MAC schools have a couple. MAC players have proven they can play those contributing parts.

Some examples:
- Carmen Grande took her last season at Ohio State, started every game, and made honorable mention all-B10
- Dyaisha Fair (who lots of people said was too short to ever contribute in a P6 league) averaged 20 points last year, was 1st team all-ACC and all-Defensive team too
- Tanaya Beacham, who had trouble getting PT at Toledo, went to Ohio State and was a major bench contributor for 2 seasons there
- Oshlynn Brown went to Rutgers for her 5th year and led them in both scoring and rebounding
- Adebola Adeyeye who was a role player at Buffalo went to Kentucky for her last year, and was a starter there much of the year.
- Molly Davis went to Iowa (the runner-up national champs) and played a role as a backup PG off the bench, getting 15-20 minutes a game.

There are others.

I agree Hampton is a terrific on ball defender and her defense will travel well where ever she goes. I am more skeptical about Tate who was a hand full as a "close to the basket" offensive player in the MAC. IMO she is a bit too small to be as successful at P6 where inside defenders are consistently much bigger. Regarding your examples of successful transfers its certainly clear that Fair was great in her year at Syracuse. My comment of Beacham is that because she was not a good defender Cullop wouldn't give her big minutes until there was no one else. Then she showed what she could do offensively. Was a good backup at OSU. I disagree regarding Molly Davis. Her minutes declined steadily as the season wore on in spite of the fact that the team didn't have much of a bench. The last five games in the NCAA tourney, when the rubber was on the road, she had 1,6,2,2,and 8 game minutes. IMO she was too small and too slow to be a factor when the best athletes were on the floor.
