RE: Unofficial Post 2022/23 MBB Season Player Movement (coming/leaving) Thread
I wonder if NIL is holding Noah back from signing with Seton Hall or if he’s waiting to be cleared by the NCAA to play this season??
I’m sure Noah could garner at least a $50k NIL deal. I would chip in $1000 for an EMU return :-)
In fact, I would chip in a $1000 NIL deal for any young guard who averages 15ppg :-)

Yep. Wish he had stayed. Moving down a level.
Definitely wish he had stayed. I have confidence that someone of the group of Randle, Billingsley, Jihad or Geeter may eventually develop into a better player then Golson. But Golson seems clearly the most polished with respect to scoring, imo. Think Geeter got the nod over him because of his ability to pass and rotate the ball, and Billingsley because he was slightly better defensively. Maybe because they were major conference transfers. No one was a clear cut advantage over the other, but Golson seemed to get the short end of the stick.
What do you think the impact of Martynov and Sernev will be to offset the loss of Golson?

Very interesting suggestions on the delay. I was wondering what was taking so long for him to sign/announce?
I too would be willing to chip in $1,000 for Noah return. Especially after watching the NBA summer league (first time I’d watched that). Noah seems like a player who would have fit perfectly into that (which is not to say he would get drafted or make an NBA roster- but I believe will be given a shot to show off his game in such venues). That is a special level of talent for the MAC/EMU. And more importantly he always seemed like a good teammate and representative of our beloved EMU.

But I think for his sake, might be nice to just go play in a major conference for a couple years… ie, nothing we can do to bring him back.

Hoping for the best. Hopefully we under estimate this team the way we overestimated last years.

I love Noah! I still don't understand why his role diminished last year.

As I stated prior to the season my concern was there was only one basketball and five players. The majority of shots seem to be taken by one player regardless of how hot or cold he was. And of course for a second year in a row EMU ranked at the bottom of the MAC in the assist column. I am really hoping Lovejoy turns out to be the missing point guard on this year's team.

Ramy, I share your concerns. Perhaps because I declared that Golson would be All-Mac his senior year and now have serious egg on my face. LOL.
I think there was more going on here. Colin missed two games last season where he was not on the bench. The logical inference is that he was not injured, and his absence was disciplinary in nature. I'm simply reading tea leaves and making no claim to inside information.
He is far stronger than anyone we currently have inside. I still remember him acquitting himself well defensively against BSU's Sparks after Moe Njie got absolutely destroyed.

You make a GREAT point, two years in a row is simply too compelling to ignore.
Our offense last year was catastrophic, let's be honest, it was centered around a great shooter who certainly did not dispense the basketball when he got it. That said, Emoni cannot be blamed for the results two seasons ago.
The question is: Do we lack a good point guard or are we bereft of an offensive strategy where one could succeed?
