Jays beat the Angels in what's been the game of the year so far in the early parts of the season, and get 2/3 in Anaheim. I'll take being 6-4 after starting with 10 straight on the road.
Some interesting records early on (obviously a lot will change, or so one would think anyway): Cardinals and Phillies at 3-6, plus Houston at 4-6. At the other end, the Rays are at 9-0, Brewers are 7-2, and D-Backs are 6-4.

Saw a thing on Baseball Prospectus saying that spin rates are nearly down as low as they were in July 2021 right after MLB started checking guys a lot closer. Think that memo that MLB sent out last month has made a real impact.
And the offensive numbers are interesting:
2023 so far 4.69 runs per game per team .735 OPS
2022 1st 11 days 4.19 runs per game per team .690 OPS
Yeah that's a huge difference.
Oh, and for those that say the pitchers can't control the ball..... HBP are down by 1/4 from last year 1st 11 days.

Oh they've been awesome. Nats had 4 in Coloado. 1st was a 1-0 game. The other 3 your classic Coors Field games. Went 2:38, 2:44, and 2:47 for games that ended 10-5, 7-6, and 6-7. Those would easily have been almost 4 hour games last year.

Weekend games in Arizona
6-3 - 2:28
12-8 - 2:43
11-6 - 2:45
With old rules (including unlimited pitching changes by Johnson, yes, closer to 4 hours.

From a time perspective, we're probably looking at selling beer for the same amount of time by extending to the eighth inning that we did last year through the seventh,” Schlesinger said. “Obviously, the safety and the conduct of our fans has primacy. We've had no issues, but it's a small sample size and we're going to continue to test it and see if it makes sense. I know a number of other teams are doing the same thing.”
According to the MLB, since the implementation of the pitch clock, the Brewers’ first six games against the Cubs and Mets averaged two hours and 34 minutes. In 2022, each of the Brewers’ first six games exceeded three hours and averaged three hours and 19 minutes.
If extended sales result in more alcohol-related misbehavior, Schlesinger said, the Brewers could make changes ranging anywhere from cutting off sales in certain sections or concourses, to restoring the former cutoff stadium-wide, he said.

Last night's Dback win over the Brewers 3-0 was the quickest game for the Dbacks in 5 years (2 hours, 12 minutes) and third shortest in the last 10 years

Dbacks did the same thing by an inning
Yep, they had two options: Extend alcohol/concession sales during the game, or raise the prices. They went with the smarter option.

Greg Maddux used to pitch those kind of games a lot:
78-pitches, only 15 were not strikes! Complete Game July 22, 1997.
Maybe the CG will come back a bit more besides Alcantara?

Braves are really struggling. They have the Royals after sweeping the weak Reds, but they're not whole right now. Lucky scheduling ('ceptin' the Pudres) has kept them afloat so far.
Rays soft schedule to start puts them in position to tie Braves and Brewers for all-time best start.

This was not good...hope he can recover fully; he's a helluva player.

You'll be I know shocked but 1 team has 0 violations so far..... That's right.... It's the Rays!
Guess it has to happen sometime, but I'd be a bit wistful if the Rays break the mlb season-start record, because that Braves season in '82 was the jump-start to opening the do0r to ending the 70's/early 80's ghastly terrible Braves teams of 1,000 fans or less in the stadium most nights and the slop field with puddles that made rain an adventure. Shame that even with the great start Tampa can't come close to filling their stadium (well, really St. Pete). The fact they can't get a stadium built across the bay is really something. That team/organization has done everything you could reasonably ask for ansd deserves a better venue than that garage.
