Your bench had strong points again. The first game I think some guys were out and your bench came up big. Might want to reevaluate some starters.

They can't be any worse than the refs calling the game in Norfolk tonight. They were calling it like they had money bet on it.

Really. I’ve seen some poorly called games but none so blatantly one sided as tonight.

I didn't see your game but I know Troy got away with dozens of blatant 2 handed shoves, holds, and travels the entire game. Now, that's not to say the calls were biased because ULM got away with their share too. I'm just saying these guys were horrible and wildly inconsistent.

Hell of a game Marshall, I knew it would be a great one. Congrats on the W and on taking first place! Had some friendly Marshall fans next to us, end of the game we were talking about how awful the refs are damn near every game in the SBC 03-lol

Marshall fans traveled pretty well too, and it looked to me like some of the club level season ticket holders need their tickets revoked! 05-nono But seriously, just like with football I had nothing but positive experiences with any Marshall fans. I can't wait to make the trip to Huntington in the fall, this rivalry has a ton of potential with two strong fan bases that travel well and aren't very far apart.

Hope to get revenge for your revenge in the next couple weeks!

Our game was absolutely terrible too, it's basically every game. I hope something can be done to improve the quality of refs we're able to get in the future, cause man I thought CAA refs were bad. I think CAA refs held a legit grudge against JMU towards the end though, here they aren't lopsided they're just full on all around bad. I think we've had more "ref you suck!" chants this year than the rest of my life combined 03-lmfao

That was a helluva game, Eagles.

I see some comments elsewhere suggesting that your players have quit on the season. I didn’t see that at all. Your guy ALL play a high-intensity game. We just happened to put together a complete team showing tonight - - something that we really haven’t managed to do yet this season.

I hope we can bring the same level of play to the game on Friday. If so, the Ted will be rocking.

I watched USM against Louisiana at home two weeks ago and they were playing at a higher level so I get the frustration they’re feeling. We played a great game and disrupted thier flow. And USA is currently a buzzsaw apparently. I’ll say it’s better to lose now than tournament time, sometimes you gotta get that out of your system. Humble you. Heads up Eagles, you’ve got a good team still.

Whoever said Sun Belt basketball was worse than C-USA was fooling themselves, there are so many good teams up and down the standings

We lost a nail-biter on the road (furthermore our longest possible conference road trip, I believe) to a team that had just won 4 out of 5. The spread was less than 2 points, and the ESPN predictor algorithm thingy actually gave ODU the higher chance of victory (55-ish% IIRC).

Dropping out of first place with 2 games to go sucks, and it’s really looking like we peaked too early, but this isn’t the game to lose one’s sh*t over and call the HC an SOB.

Good game, Marshall. You could feel the intensity, even watching it on TV.

I was always swore I would never turn into one of those fans that just sat complacently during a game, and I am proud to say that 20+ years after I graduated, I was so into this one that I stood the entire second half...even though I was in my living room. Not an exaggeration.

Anyway, may you draw USA as your reward.03-razz

It's one poster and he's like that in almost every game in every sport.

The one thing I'm concerned about is we are getting worse on easy layups not better. Alverez gets those easy layups, we hit free throws we win. It's concerning also because you were down 2 starters and had 2 players with injuries.

Even so ODU played really well and if this was a one game thing I'd just strike it up as we just got outplayed a game. But, we haven't put teams away. There's some really bad teams that have played us close and then the 30 point loss to USA is just bad.

It's hard not to look at this of a continuation in the wrong direction.

This all depends on how well you play Marshall as well. If ya'll get slaughtered by Marshall I'm going to be really concerned.

Wow. Norfolk is your farthest trip. But the trip from Norfolk to San Marcos is nearly twice as far.

So with Louisiana’s win the top for are set it’s just a matter of order? I think JMU holds the tiebreaker with both ODU & Troyso regardless what happens Friday USM,Louisiana, Marshall & JMU get the bye.

Is that right?

Yes, I think the top four are set now, just a matter of who will be 1 through 4 which could easily flip flop Friday night.

What are the tiebreaker scenarios if this happens Friday night?

ODU beats Marshall
Louisiana beats South Alabama
Texas State beats Southern Miss

Louisiana 13-5
Southern Miss 13-5
Marshall 13-5

Who is 1-3?

Louisiana beat Marshall. Marshall beat Southern Miss. Louisiana and Southern Miss went 1-1

If Marshall wins, Marshall is the #1.
If Marshall loses and USM wins, USM is the #1.
If Marshall and USM lose and Louisiana wins, Louisiana is the #1. (UL gets the first 3-way tie break by being 2-1 within the tie)
If all three lose, Marshall is the #1.

So in the scenario I provided above, Louisiana is the regular season champ?

That's some level 5 chaos right there.

In the scenario you provided, all three would claim a share of the regular season conference title, but Louisiana would get the 1 seed and the guaranteed NIT bid. Marshall would be 2, USM 3.

LoL, I don't think anyone wants to play USA right now, They are peaking at the right time. Even GA Southern is looking dangerous.
