We are 17.5 point favorites with the over/under at 129.5. We are given a 98.2% chance of winning.

17.5 seems like a TON for us right now.

So is Elon, and it was closer than it needed to be. We don't typically blow anyone out

They may have very similar records, but Elon is a much better team. They have been a tough out at times. We beat them by 15 and 8. They lost to N.C. State by 9, Towson by 4 and Delaware by 5.

RE: monmouth
I’m hoping for aggressive Seahawk hoops and not tentative Seahawk hoops.

It does seem like a lot of points to give.

We beat Monmouth by 13 at their place. With this one being at home and the purpose of the spread to try and get even number of bets on both sides 17.5 makes sense

RE: monmouth
I just don't know if we have the offensive strategy or firepower to beat anyone by 18 points right now. And don't forget, Monmouth had a three point lead over CofC at the half and only lost by 14.

I don't care what the final score is, I just want to see a UNCW team that is aggressive and attacking on both offense and defense. I want to see White abandon the mid range jumper and get back to creating contact in the post and scoring or drawing fouls(ya' know, junk ball scoring). I want to see us grab a defensive rebound, send an outlet pass up the court, then try to attack the basket before the defense sets up. Then, I want to see us initiate a legitimate press after a made basket or made FT. Time to quit playing not to lose and start playing with the intent to dominate and intimidate the opponent. If that results in a 5 point or 25 point win, I don't care. But let's get some energy and swagger back on this team.

But does Vegas take that into consideration? We were a gamblers favorite last year because we turned it around after a putrid non conference. Almost the opposite occurring now, to a lesser extent.

RE: monmouth
Monmouth's point differential of -21.1 is the worst of 363 teams by 3.2. Just over two-thirds of teams have a positive differential because of non-Division I games, which Monmouth did not have any of. In Monmouth's last nine games (against Charlotte, Yale, and seven games), they have scored 66 or fewer and allowed 67 or more. They have not scored 70 at home. The only times they scored at least 70 were an 80-76 loss at Lehigh (12-8), a 76-69 win at Manhattan (6-12), and an 86-71 loss at Syracuse (13-8).

KenPom expects you to win 75-55 with a 97 percent chance of winning.

The fact the line has gone down leads me to believe a lot of people are thinking like me that they won't cover

We are playing bad basketball right now. Ball movement not there and missing open 3 balls. Everyone packing it in on us. Wish Ross was back.

Need Shy to be Shy and set the tone. It would be good to get Thomas back and rolling too. Hayes needs to keep playing his game. White is very good but needs to play within the offense. Kelly will be back. Nick and Eric were solid. Hope JHarv is okay. McGriff did some good things for a spell. Newby was solid.

RE: monmouth
One takeaway from Coach Siddle's postgame comments was that Monmouth is a denial team (like us), and that they packed it in "'which we didn't expect'.

It seems to me that every team has been packing it in against us as of late, denying the lane and the inside-out game - daring us to straight up shoot the ball from longer range to beat them. That's been working, either resulting in us losing or in us winning by narrower margins than would otherwise be the case.

So my question would be, just because Monmouth had not been packing it in earlier games, why would Coach not expect them to do what other teams have shown to work against us? I, frankly, expect every team we play going forward to pack the lane until such time as it is shown that it is a bad strategy.

RE: monmouth
We want our guys to get their offensive flow to be optimized at this point. Siddle and staff are terrific imho. We just want our guys to get their offensive flow to be optimized at this point. Siddle and staff are terrific imho and the players are class guys that represent and are fun to cheer for as well. We just need to be the best version of ourselves.

We will see a packed lane and some occasional zone. We need to practice against these scenarios and execute with prudent ball reversals and spacing as well mixed in. Teams are wise to our current sets and tendencies. Need a vocal PG to call that out. Heck, I liked the staggered action call for Hayes last week to get mixed back in- running some stuff to get our best shooter rolling.

Guys will get rolling once our execution gets better. This next week of practice will be very important. Looks like Hodge will get PT now- he certainly capable to contribute some.
