Is it? This commissioner appeared content to just take the 2 schools from the Pac12 for now (or he was unable to convince the Big10 presidents to add more)----that may or may not be the case for whoever replaces him. I suspect Oregon and Washington feel like they might get one more time at bat before this round of realignment is over.

He has been at odds with prez of B10 for a while on the vision of where B10 needs to go. He got them their TV deal probably time to go back to Pro FB and finish out his career.

Doubt it from what has been said he had to fight BT presidents to expand. A lot more difficult for next guy to convince those same presidents to add Oregon/ Washington as opposed to USC/ UCLA.

RE: Big Ten commish moving on...
it really depends on the mindset of the new ..

warren had a mindset that he didnt care about the status quo at all... that it was his vision or the high way.. he without hesitiation was will to shutdown the big 10 when covid happened, for the 1st time in like a 100 years..and threatened anyone who opposed like nebraska

he expanded to ucla and usc breaking a 100 year conference, despite having an alliance with the pac 12..

he dictated the terms pf the playoff expansions even if it meant imploding it

he was only associated with the ncaa for a total of only 3 years .. that type of personality id rare

Correct and the ones hiring the next guy are the same BT Presidents that were hesitant on expansion. The fact that no other PACschools were added in their new tv contract says a lot about whether those Presidents wanted to add more.

Good point

That and the fact they wanted to wait on the holy grail which could move the pot in Notre Dame. Anything else reduces their share.

RE: Big Ten commish moving on...
Notre Dame is still the golden goose.

If Big Ten hired Jack Swarbrick as the next commissioner, that might bring them to the table for expansion again. It would have to be some sort of sweetheart deal with Pro-NBC terms for ND.

The Expanded CFP Bye Week for the Top4-Seeds requires you to be a conference champion.

The Big Ten made the USC addition in part to lure ND with their national rivalry.

If Big Ten is still committed to adding ND, hiring Swarbrick might be the negotiator to get it done.

Swarbrick is better with the college politics than the coaching hires anyways.

Seems like part of the reason he's out is because he didn't get (wasn't allowed) to implode the PAC more like he wanted.

Probably knew he was headed out the door anyway. Basically, jumped with a Bear Golden Parachute thinking he might have a shot at the NFL $60 million dollar Commissioner job when Roger Goodale retires down the road. 04-cheers

RE: Big Ten commish moving on...
After the IMO fiasco of the 2020 cancel-then-reinstatement of the football season, I thought Warren was a flop and rated him about a D as a commissioner.

But the acquisition of USC and UCLA, and the subsequent mega TV deal made up for that and then some.

Overall, I give him an A- as B1G commissioner. He did a very good job in the brief time he was there.
