Congrats to both!! And seems like such a Patriots type of move to pick them.
Thanks for sharing! Hope to hear some news on Ramirez!

That’s great EMU with three players drafted: Ramirez, Sow and Ryland
Another accomplishment by Creighton!

Honestly, it is astounding!
A Facebook friend of mine who happens to a former Ann Arbor News sportswriter posted "when was the last time EMU had two players drafted?". It did happen in the 70's but the draft had more rounds then, so this year was indeed exceptional.
I know Ryland will be attributed to Maryland, but if not for Covid, he would have expended his eligibility at EMU. A win-win situation, nonetheless. Chad probably got drafted higher due to the exposure at Maryland and it allowed us to play Gomez, who at this stage of his career has performed better than Chad.
I always hated it when Michael Danna the great DE from CMU, transferred to U-M for his last year and identified thereafter as a Wolverine. Maxx Crosby may have left early, but he tattooed the Block E on his arm and has repped EMU well. It will be interesting to see what Chad does.

Fantastic news! Which round? (Important thing is to get drafted, but still curious)

Interesting point you raise, as I did not realize Ryland played 4 years at EMU. Seems we are all still rooting for him regardless if he gets attributed to Maryland. Regardless, Ryland being drafted is still a selling point to recruits for Creighton.
Also good point on Gomez. EMU often has decent kickers. Even in some of the darker, pre-Creighton years. A bit peculiar.

Some of us forgot how good Dylan Mulder was.

I would bet we lead the MAC in DE draft picks the past 20 years
1) Jayson Jones
2) Pat O’Connor
3) Maxx Crosby
4) Jose Ramirez
Who is next?

I wonder if Chad Ryland will be added to the ring of honor after his first NFL season?

That's a great question considering that he graduated from EMU.
The athletic dept should make a deal with Chad - they'll put his name on the ring and in exchange he needs to identify himself as a player from EMU, not Maryland.

That sounds logical and fair.

A tidbit Chad gave Alex Alvarado during an interview for Alvarado's "Ypsi Eleven" column: Still, through the recruiting process, he’s been telling agents and scouts that even though Maryland might’ve been able to give him more confidence in his game, he’s still “Eastern Michigan made.”

I don't agree with that.
Chad's name should be there because he's one of the greatest (if not the greatest) to ever do it at his postion in school history, has multiple legendary EMU moments, has an EMU degree, was drafted, and will now have some sort of NFL career. Not because he agrees to identify as being from EMU. We shouldn't be putting ultimatums on former players.
What does that even mean to "identify" as a being from EMU? If he is asked in an interview what school he went to he has to say EMU? I don't know if I've ever seen a player randomly saying where they went college for no reason, usually it comes up during an interview. So if someone ask him a question about his time at Maryland he has to ignore it and say "I went to Eastern Michigan." I know during the Sunday night game they do the intro deal where starters have a pre-recorded deal where they say their name and where they went to high school or college, but kickers aren't apart of that so it wouldn't apply to him.
As Cid pointed out, Chad seems to be a pretty proud EMU alum/former player, so I don't think it'll be an issue anyway.

We have 2 (not close) both MAC MVPS. Larry English and Sutton Smith.

Dear Friends,
Any free agent signings? I know Eastern has had some in the past, that have made team rosters.
