Keaton Mitchell declares for the NFL...
Things just got interesting in Greenville this spring as of today in the East Carolina backfield. Mitchell is heading to the NFL draft with 2 years of eligibility remaining. Good luck in the future KM!!

He will be missed, but I’d rather him go to the NFL than hitting the transfer portal.

We will be good. We have a stable of good RB’s. Maybe not as electric, but lots of quality.

I'm hearing the number of concussions he had this season played a part in the decision. The one at UC was ridiculous with zero play on the ball by a player who's a multiple offender. No place for it in the game.

Yep, didn’t want to play another season being headhunted by guys who can’t guard him.

That's a true statement. Sucks to have a player be at a school for three years then they transfer only to have their new school listed on the latest Madden.

He will be greatly missed. That said, when we lost CJ2K after an 8-win season and bowl win in ‘07, we went on to win back-to-back conference championships in ‘08-‘09.

Heck of a player and electric speed. Chris Johnson-esque. …that said wish him well and glad he stayed to play in the bowl game. He didn’t have to do that.

Gunn and R. Harris and very good backs returning.

Running Back shelf life is very short. It certainly makes sense to start now it the hope that instead of maybe 2-4 years in the NFL he can last 4-6.

I agree. I think that the combo of Edmunds and Gunn, with a little Rajai Harris sprinkled in (assuming that he's recovered) will be tough for teams to prepare for. After those guys, we still have Squire and Bond (who will probably need another year of development) and McCay (who is good from what I've seen but who may also transfer out if my hunch is correct).

This. If he had ended up at Iowa (or Kansas, Northwesterm, Vandy, Iowa State, Miami, Duke, Illinois, GT, ASU, WVU, BC, Stanford, VT, Rutgers, Auburn, Indiana, Arizona, Virginia, Cal, Nebraska, Colorado, or whatever perennial 4-win P5 team of your choosing) would be a real kick in the sack.

But for real... Keaton Mitchell was a generational talent that can't be replaced. He turned busted plays into 20+ yards routinely. He made it look easy.

I hope someone in the NFL gives him a shot and drafts him so that he doesn't have to go the UDFA route.

I bet he goes in the first three rounds.

Our starting RB transferred to Vandy and is now off to Kentucky. Don't think any of it did much to help his draft prospects.

At least we just flipped a Memphis recruit that runs a 4.37 40. Hopefully he will help fill the void.

Edmunds sucks. Zero impact. Gunn is a quality back and I am curious to see what Squire can do. Bond will play unless we secure a RB in the portal. Don't expect Harris will play much.

What are you basing your opinion of Edmunds on? The dude has played three snaps this year.

Mitchell and Spears are two of the most talented RBs in this draft class...both should represent their former schools very well in the NFL for a long while.
