ROLL WAVE! What an awesome game. I didn't give y'all much of a chance, and boy was I ever glad to be proven wrong! Y'all have a TOUGH team. Way to represent the AAC!

Man, Fritz really shows that you need to give a coach time to build something. So many programs would have fired a coach that hovered around 0.500 for a few years and then had a 2-10 season. Overall losing record. Tulane didn’t follow the trend, gave their guy some time, and he brought their most successful season in nearly a century. Fritz seems like a great guy. Don’t know if anyone deserves this more than him. Congrats to you guys! Roll Wave (until we play you guys next season, then Blaze TF On)

1998 Undefeated Tulane finished in the AP #7 and Coaches #7.

2022 Tulane Prior to Bowls were AP #14 and Coaches #17

Curious to see what the final polls will say...
USC was ranked #8 in both polls.

I doubt 2022 Tulane surpasses 1998 Tulane's final ranking.

Yes and no. Fritz record has to be placed in its historical context to be properly assessed. He's the only coach in Tulane's history to lead them to back to back bowls. And he didn't stop at back to back, he went back to back to back. I think that bought him some leash. Not saying your statement was wrong, but I think its worth pointing that out. Sometimes not having a "winning tradition" can be a positive.

I've long said that Fritz is an excellent coach. I love his offenses and defenses.

It looks like Pratt is returning and that Spears is doing the same. Y'all are losing 10 other starters to graduation, correct? How many will return to use their Covid year of eligibility?

Pratt is the real deal. That last four minutes was pure determination and not letting the score and time get to his head. Next season UTSA vs. Tulane with QB matchups of Pratt vs. Harris will be must watch TV. Also, I might have to make the UAB @ Tulane game next season. Easy trip from Birmingham.

And to above posts, I still think even if Tulane doesn’t finish as high in AP that this is a more successful season than 1998. Much tougher schedule. They beat the B12 champ, the P12 runner up with the heisman winner, broke the nations longest home win streak @ Cincy. Won the American. Went 4-1 against future B12.

And yeah, understood about the historical context of Tulane win percentages but often coaches like this will be victim of their own raised standards. We saw people calling for Clark’s head because we couldn’t move towards NY6 contention. Historically, UAB was a bottom 10 FBS program and Clark brought UAB to a perennial top 10 G5 program. People were dusting off pitchforks after a 9-4 season where UAB scalped a top 15 BYU team because he lost to Rice, made a bad call @ UTSA, and didn’t make the CUSA champ game. Not saying either of us are wrong, but Tulane took the wait it out approach and it worked. MTSU took the wait it out approach and are still waiting. Just an observation

They got the ball with 3 minutes left. Gave up a sack. Had second and 21. Ran it 3 times to pick up the first down.

Now they aren't even across midfield and there is only 1:08 left.

Tulane uses its LAST TIMEOUT, with the clock stopped.

Pratt takes another sack. Throws a short pass INBOUNDS. Now they are facing 3rd and 10 from their own 46 and there are only 31 seconds left. HAVEN'T EVEN CROSSED MIDFIELD.

Incomplete on 4th down, but Pratt delivers a strike on 4th and 10 for 24 yards to the USC 30. 25 seconds left.

Spike with 22 seconds left.

Another strike from Pratt for 24 yards to the USC 6. The targeting debate stops the clock.

Now, here is the craziest play of the drive. Pratt throws an idiotic 3 yard pass with 12 seconds left. It hits the receiver in the hands. If he catches it the game is over. Greatest drop of all time.

Next play, Touchdown for the win.

Excellent synopsis Mark. Tulane had no business scoring on that last drive, but they did. And good for them.

Tulane tried to shoot themselves in the foot, but missed. USC aim was true and hobbled themselves (bobbled kick return comes to mind).

Such are the fortunes of football and it does not detract one iota from Tulane's victory (not saying you believe that). I am very happy for their fans.

Tyjae Spears declared for the draft, which we all knew was happening well ahead of time. Pratt is returning, and so is a good chunk of the O-line. We all thought Sincere Haynesworth (center) was going for the draft, but he announced a couple weeks back that he's staying another year.

I'm also very happy for them, the final score is all that matters. Reminds me of ECU's game against Marshall last year. The Pirates were down 17 points with 7.5 minutes to go, ended up winning 42-38. It takes a lot of skill, will and plain old dumb "luck" to pull off something like that.

I thought you were going with the Peach Bowl for ECU. It was very similar 17 points down mid way in the fourth quarter. Similar kind of setting.

That is the Tulane head coach. That is a picture of him in his college uniform at Pittsburg State University (it is in Kansas).
