RE: Cosh’s Air Raid headed to Kazoo!
Tempo comes with benefits and attendant issues/requirements.
Air Raid also but more so.
Neither are fresh or unique anymore. Cosh seems to have had success.

If the tempo is fast, all the decisionmaking must be fast as well. Guys in booth have to have heads screwed on tight because they have to analyze and decide quickly. They have tricks like callin “sets” of 3-4 plays as a group. Sub in by series to fit.
Helps if the QB and O line shot caller are experienced with reads and options and can make coherent coordinated reads and communicate them.
Helps to have speed. That’s never been a WMU issue in the past, we’ve always featured speed. Two deep sets of receivers helps because they got to run run run all game.
I like youth in OC in this situation, confident young guys willing to push some limits and take some risk.
Good we’ve got a decent DC because there are bound to be some 3 outs and turnovers to be dealt with.
Remember with Cubit we’d get the Quick Strikes a few times a game, bang a score. He called it “East Coast.”
Should be entertaining.

High tempo typically brings a pretty stream lined approach. You call concepts more so than “plays” the way most view the game. High tempo can really simplify things more than complicate it. It also can be much more plug and play than other systems from a personal perspective. It does require intelligence at QB over skill set often. (Unless your goal is to have a running QB)

People who view tempo, how it’s used, and more importantly tempo changes as a gimmick, show how little they understand football.

Dino Babers made his bones running Hurry Up No Huddle (HUNH) offense at BUGS (Kent State's Sean Lewis was a protege of his).

Defenses have caught up with it since he's been at Syracuse to the point he has morphed to more of a West Coast offense (WCO).

Football is a cyclical game.

Is the actual hiring of Cosh official? I’ve seen nothing announced yet. And, as per usual, ANY Bronco FB news has basically been a desert wasteland of late. Plenty of coverage for a change from Mlive on each transfer portal defection but basically nothing else. To be fair, the signing day coverage was ok. I hate to say it but maybe there’s just nothing else good to report…unfortunately.

Legit question and the WMU athletics social media efforts are among the worst in D1.

We didn't have a media guide. We don't have tickets, programs or any publications of substance at all. Our releases are hopefully out of date. Our athletic department at least in the last years of KB was actually embarassing.

It's almost as if a decade of budget cuts and internal fighting between the Athletic Department and MarCom have an effect.

Only so many dollars to go around.

The new staff cost as a whole sits in a spreadsheet that’s being nit picked by the accountants put in place by Montgomery.

Nothing new.

But thinking Monty isn’t involved regularly and likely holding a “you can do more with less” card has not been paying attention.

RE: Cosh’s Air Raid headed to Kazoo!
I’m thinking IS paying attention and some needed re-organization of athletic department budgets and roles is underway jointly with AD.
LOTS of change in the external environment that needs acknowledged in the organizational structure.
Examples our increased contacts with outside advisors, donor relations, hiring of a general manager, etc.
We might have hit a “hold everything” moment and some furious activity behind the scenes.
If that is not the case, is there a deep doo doo thing happening? Like an approach was identified and now that approach is on the rocks? Sure hope not.
The sports scene everywhere is in upheaval and as usual **** flows downhill. MAC and similar bottom dwellers have to wade through that as best we can. Good luck with that!
