We used to talk alot about GVSU benefiting from the lack of FCS programs in Michigan. Haven't really felt the need to bring this up as I like Ferris and they aren't nearly as obnoxious as the GVSU crowd was in the early 00's but I have to believe that is factor as well.

It definitely contributes to the success of our DII schools. GVSU and Ferris are DI-sized schools playing in DII, recruiting all the kids with FCS talent. Big fish in a small pond, especially for GVSU. It's really no wonder that they do well.

I think that Annese is just really anchored into that Ferris program. He has it running like a well oiled machine and his pipelines for recruits and transfers is set. It is even likely that when certain openings come up, that his people are contacted but turn it down immediately. Who knows. It does seem strange that his name wasn't even in whispers over the last 10 or so years when all sorts of programs in the area were looking. I was almost certain CMU was going to grab him during their last HC search.

I live out around the GVSU area of GR. Yeah, they have chips on their shoulders.

If they were to go to FCS -- thing is, IMO, it'd be Missouri Valley Conf or bust. They're full tho. I think it's all about nowhere to go. Budgetary reasons as to why they wouldn't want to travel much, thus, stick to D2.
