Sold out school in their first home game transitioning to DI from DII. I love it. Coach is on 1 year rolling contract. I hope he loses them all so we can get rid of the bum. He's been crap since Elmore left.

I guess they won 30 games last year. We'd know that if anyone had ever heard of them.

I remember when the Marshall coach tried to dissuade their admin from moving to the Sun Belt because of the poor basketball. Then they have a bad year last year (10-21 with a 242 NET) and in their first game with SBC on their chests they lose to D1 transitional Queens. I don’t know much about the Marshall coach but in the small sample size I do have he seems like a gem.

I want to give him a hard time, but tbh can't point fingers. Ron Hunter did the same. He thought SBC was a downgrade coming from CAA. Told everyone he wasn't happy about it.

Ouch Marshall... Hate to see that.

On the bright side, as CarRamrod on our board said: Who said we'd gain nothing from playing Valley Forge?

The score and stats were close to the same as WKU's 93-65 win over Montevallo, which is good to see since WKU has a pretty good team.

Comparing scores against a D2 school is never a great idea

Let me hope Troy will be good again this year.

Queens actually has a really pretty (tiny) campus in the heart of Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood. Its campus is surrounded by multimillion dollar homes. I don’t know why but I always thought that place had crazy potential as a basketball school like Davidson just up the road. Time will tell.

BTW App won 142-74. Most points in App MBB history.

Kerns is moving to an up-tempo offense this year with a lot of new pieces and this was good to see.

Warren Wilson shot quickly and never stopped pressing, hence why the score is what it is. Offense had to stay on their toes the entire 40 minutes.

May not look like the best loss, but Queens has been a very good program in D2 for some time. Perennial Sweet 16/Elite 8 kinda team. It’s why they’re moving to D1. Smack in the middle of Charlotte (easy quality recruiting depth), not some backwoods rural campus.

Truth be told, this loss is probably better than just about every other win in the books tonight. Good programs are always a challenge, regardless of level.

Louisiana 106, Centenary 55. Jordan Brown had 26/9 leading five in double figures. Cajuns play Harvard in Asheville on Friday.

JMU fans can relax, they'll lose any attention for running up the score. Bryant beat a D3 school by 108 points yesterday, and said they don't regret a thing.

When App beat Toccoa Falls 135-34, that App team proceeded to go 15-18.

Good question. But it’s two separate issues.

Would I still say chronically good hoops teams are tough, even from lower levels? Yes. This isn’t football, with its Grand Canyon divide between the haves and have nots. Cohesive, well coached teams are tough in hoops. For Coastal, I’d say the fair comp was Northern Kentucky, who we played several years ago. They’d just transitioned up (it’s a 3 year transition in hoops), and had stable coaching, stable program identity, and consistent success. One of the most solid programs we’ve played (for the level they were at).

Now… post initial hire, living off his ACC/SEC name, drawing P5 transfers, winning because of our roster, not necessarily his coaching… would I be upset our program hadn’t advanced to the point were those kinda teams were only occasionally troublesome? Absolutely. But we haven’t. There’s been a decade of regression and sadness… So I’d probably be pissed.
