RE: Get ready’: Trump expected to announce run for US presidency
1. Midterms and prior two elections show Trump isn't what everyone professes he is to be.
2. 2016 was an outlier, and he ran against a terribly managed campaign that was so bad that her husband threw up his hands, threw his phone against the wall and told them they were BLOWING IT, and even then he lost the popular vote.
3. Democrats, Independent, moderate, and non GAB participating voters don't want our democratic constitutional republic to end.

The real precedent was El Duce, and he held when it got dicey. Trump did not, as hard as he tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power and make us a dictatorship, he failed. He won't be back to do it again, he's failing, his health is failing, mentally he's failing, and people are onto his act and dismissing him now. They missed their moment, and yes, they had a chance on January 6th to create the chaos needed for him to become our very own Ed Duce.

That's gone now. His 34%, rapid mouth breathing cult of fangirls will diminish faster and faster, many dying off, many just getting gainful employment for a change and not being so angry any longer. But that's it, 34%. Doneza, toast, history.

I hope he does get the nomination, the campaign commercials will be a pure joy to watch. It'll be a 32 million plus majority this time.

BYEDON!!

The same thing was said about 2016. Just sayin.

Incredible that this guy can even be eligible to run again. But yeah, I'd be concerned, there's precedence here.

But a few things make me a bit more hopeful:
- The midterms have given me a little encouragement that Trump fatigue has started setting in, and that could be pure overdose by November 2024.
- By 2024, that'll mean 8 years have passed with a shrinking white boomer base (skews hard-core Trump) and more Gen Z 'coming of age' to vote (skew liberal)
- He was able to charge in as the populist outsider in 2015, but with the GOP under his firm control, he's now just Swamp Part II.

Trump would have a decision to make. Either continue with the cray-cray and keep the Base fired up but risk losing even more of the burned out indies/middle. Or actually veer toward more conventional debate points (more economy and foreign policy, less culture wars, election denials and constant insults/nicknames), but then risk looking "establishment."

I think DeSantis would have a better shot - he's Trumpism without the Trump baggage. Especially if Biden starts really showing his age in a couple years, and if something bad is saddling down the Democrats (i.e. recession, a foreign policy fiasco, etc.).
I guess we should ask them.

For those of you who have supported Donald Trump through an insurrection, election denying, using congressional dollars to blackmail Ukraine into providing political dirt on Joe Biden, having questionable relationships with Russia & Saudi Arabia, taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lago after no longer being President, making fun of gold star recipients, making fun of POWs, making fun of handicapped people, saying there are good people on both sides of Charlottesville................

does losing a mid-term election change your allegiances to Donald Trump?

I hope you're right, but fear you're not. His base is as fired up as ever, both for him specifically and to oust the left. All it'll take is one big screw up by the dems to get that momentum back. In 2016 it was them nominating Hillary, and Hillary having a terrible campaign team.

My fear is if that Biden chooses not to run again:

There doesn't appear to be any real Democratic candidate that could galvanize the party.

Unless - Whitmer?

RE: Get ready’: Trump expected to announce run for US presidency
This "Trump fear" is getting silly. His "base" is a bunch of mouth breathing fat clowns who pray to busts of Mango Mussolini. The base who attends his ever shrinking state fairground rallies in the dirt, listen to Bannon podcasts, and recite QANON theories. He's lost his hold, he's failed, at everything he's done.

Rational people are done even thinking there's a remote, outside chance that he might be right and they might be right with all their fangirl behavior, boat rallies, flags on pickups in leiu of dental checkups, et al.

They are done. Now, that's not to say if the GOP looks inward and course corrects, the way that the dems had to in the 80's, and that they can't come right back and take power. I'm not discounting that one bit.

MAGA-GOP? They're toast. The ones that are left will be dismissed as unnecessary noise, which they are for sure.

There's a strong bench of up and coming stars with national appeal, of which big Gretch could be one. Newsome another, and there are plenty more.

Though, Biden was the man for that moment.

Russia fired 100 missile into Ukraine. 2 went into NATO member Poland with a couple of known deaths. Response will be interesting with China watching closely.

You making this a political discussion? Want the DEMS to make a mistake do you? Is that why you posted this here?

Clown.

Here ya go. If Trump were POTUS, he would go on TV and say that Putin denied it so strongly that it couldn't have happened.

I stated something that has occurred. You know China has its eyes on Taiwan. I just hope the President is up to the task.

He's always up to the task, he's not a corrupt loser who is on Putin's side. He's got this.

Biden may not be great, but at least he actually listens to his military and foreign policy expects instead of having a temper tantrum and throwing ketchup at the wall.

He was either chair or ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for 12 years before he was VP for eight years. I get that it's not "The Apprentice" but it helps.

Especially when it isn't the Democrats that started supporting Putin in his war against Ukraine and saying we shouldn't support Ukraine anymore.

Wouldn't be interesting if Trump doesn't win GOP nomination for 2024?

DeSantis leads trump by double digits in most polls. It's his nomination if he chooses to run. His support will only grow as trump nears 80yrs. No eighty year old should ever be president. A lot can happen in 2 years and never underestimate Joe's ability to F things up.

"Joe" actually has competent advisors-cabinet members et al that he listens to.

Unlike his predecessor, who only listened to his children and in-laws who told him what he wanted to hear.
