RE: 2023 Big Ten Football Schedule Discussion/Speculation
NBC really wants you to get Peacock. First there was the NFL Playoff game. Now they were promised nine exclusive Big Ten games. The first three were announced. They aren't really snoozers, East Carolina at Michigan on Sept. 2 (noon), Delaware at Penn State on Sept. 9 (noon), and Washington at Michigan State on Sept. 16 (5pm).

If Penn State and Michigan already have games on Peacock it wouldn't surprise me to see Ohio State have one as well, maybe even a conference game (all of OSU's remaining unassigned games are conference games). UW-MSU seems a fairly strong one, better than Syr-Pur which is airing on NBC later that night. As far as I know, the BTN policies are still in place, Ohio State (Youngstown State) and Michigan (Bowling Green) already each have one BTN game scheduled.

Maybe CBS didn't "participate" in this year's draft. Unless there's a top game Oct. 28 or Nov. 4, their "best" game is Iowa at Penn State. FOX has Michigan at Penn State in addition to Ohio State at Michigan. Ohio State at Penn State (Oct. 21) hasn't been assigned yet but I assume that will be prime time on NBC, NBC has first rights but hasn't claimed it yet. CBS has no Big Ten coverage slots that day. I'm guessing FOX and NBC agreed to split UM-PSU and MSU-OSU on Nov. 11 ahead of time.

Awful Announcing on NBC's Charlotte-Maryland game:
https://awfulannouncing.com/nbc/nbc-mock...tchup.html

Here's the entire Big 10 Week 2:
Youngstown State at Ohio State | 12 p.m. | Big Ten Network, FOX Sports App
Nebraska at Colorado | 12 p.m. | FOX, FOX Sports App
Purdue at Virginia Tech | 12 p.m. | ESPN2
UNLV at Michigan | 3:30 p.m. | CBS, Paramount+
Delaware at Penn State | 3:30 p.m. | Peacock
Richmond at Michigan State | 3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network, FOX Sports App
UTEP at Northwestern | 3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network, FOX Sports App
Iowa at Iowa State | 3:30 p.m. | FOX, FOX Sports App
Charlotte at Maryland | 7:30 p.m. | NBC, Peacock
Eastern Michigan at Minnesota | 7:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network, FOX Sports App
Temple at Rutgers | 7:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network, FOX Sports App
Wisconsin at Washington State | 7:30 p.m. | ABC

You can throw out the road games, Neb-Colo, Pur-VaT, Iowa-ISU, and Wisc-WSU. Assuming the BTN rules are still in place, YSU-OSU is screaming BTN. The Big Ten could have given NBC OSU this week and let BTN have the Week 3 WKU-OSU game which will air on FOX. I'm assuming UNLV-UM was chosen by CBS and even if it weren't and you gave NBC Michigan CBS would still be stuck with a bad game. Are any of Rich/MSU, EMU/Minn, Temp/Rut, or UTEP/NW that much better than Charl/Md? I'm partial to Temple although I don't especially want to see Rutgers either. I think they should have let NBC have Youngstown State-Ohio State, sure it will be around 60-7 but it's still OSU. UNLV-UM is going to be around 60-7 but no one is feeling sorry for CBS for that game.

According to Brett McMurphy, the rest of the Big Ten Saturday Night schedule...

https://twitter.com/Brett_McMurphy/statu...7237438477

Sept 23 Maryland at Mich St 3:30 pm
Sept 30 Illinois at Purdue 7:30 pm
Oct 7 Purdue at Iowa 7:30 pm
Oct 14 Iowa at Wisconsin 3:30 pm
Oct 21 Minnesota at Iowa 3:30 pm
Oct 21 Michigan at Mich St 7:30 pm
Oct 28 Ohio St at Wisconsin 7:30 pm
Nov 4 Purdue at Michigan 7:30 pm
Nov 11 Maryland at Nebraska 3:30 pm
Nov 11 Mich St at Ohio St 7:30 pm (Confirmed)
Nov. 18 Nebraska at Wisconsin 7:30 pm
Nov 24 Penn St vs Mich St (Ford Field) 7:30 pm (Confirmed)

Pretty solid games here. Michigan at Michigan State and Ohio State at Wisconsin (along with Michigan State at Ohio State) have the potential to be huge.

NBC will have four 3:30pm games, two will lead into prime time Notre Dame games (one involving Ohio State) but two leading into other Big Ten games.

I'd have to believe now that Penn State at Ohio State on Oct. 21 will be a Big Nooner on FOX. If this is true, FOX will have all three of the Big Three games this year (Michigan-Penn State on Nov. 11 is already confirmed to be on FOX, of course Ohio State-Michigan on Nov. 25 is as well). Man, FOX will have cleaned up if that's the case!

Looks like NBC got what they wanted, a November night game slate that includes Ohio State, Michigan at home, and Penn State on a Neutral site.

The September games were slammed (and rightfully so) but they were mostly non conference games and baseball is still going on. Come October and November the good Big Ten games will be on.

Ohio State playing a conference game on Peacock is pretty big for them. I don't know if the Big Ten Network conference game rule is still in effect for this season but if it is, Ohio State will be losing two conference games off OTA, one to Peacock and one to BTN.
