When a game is relegated to ESPN+ the home team chooses the start time. Anybody know a good reason(s) why Kansas State would choose to start the game at 11:00 a.m. (CST)? I'm genuinely curious.

When its a Big 12 game and not an institutionally retained game, I believe it falls under the call of ESPN to set the time.

Happy we got the win last week against SMU, cause I'm much more nervous about the OU game. I know we've beaten them in the past, but they'll be motivated to bounce back after their loss to K-State. Hoping for a good game.

We have had a really bad pattern recently of falling very quickly way behind in the OU game and we have generally managed to get back to a somewhat competitive position by the 3rd quarter.

If we can manage to stay in the game early then we have a chance. I expect it to be a very high scoring affair.

True. Curious to see how we play against a big opponent under Dykes.

Great win by the Frogs! Glad OU is getting a beating on their way out of the league.

Congrats TCU! That was a thing of beauty. 4-0 and should crack the Top 25 this week.

Not sure who that idiot was that said he was nervous about OU, lol. Very, very happy with that game and can't wait to play Kansas next week with College Game Day! (Not a sentence I ever thought I'd type).

Also, as I said last week - Big 12 refs are absolute trash.

Dang! I was hoping that issue was going to be fixed, with the new conference.

There's a shortage of refs in the country after the pandemic, so given that every conference thinks their refs are bad I wouldn't expect reffing at any level to get better. Time for a new generation to step up, since everyone seems to think it's so easy!

On top of that, everything being easily available on replay and/or on the internet almost instantly makes it that much harder. I definitely agree the refs leave a lot to be desired, but i'm not convinced they are drastically worse than they were in the past.

How the rules have changed with newer rules like targeting and more protection of players also makes the refs job harder as there is a ton of gray area in those rules.

So you say, people seem to think it is easy....but it is far from easy.

Being a ref is not easy and it's not a job I'd ever claim I could do better. However, from my point of view, the Big 12 refs over the years (even pre-pandemic) have seemed to miss more calls or just make absolutely horrible calls at a higher level than all the other P5 conference games I've watched.

Again, my opinion. I know not everyone agrees with it.

RE: ***Week 5 Game Thread***
I'd have to hunt for the citation, but recent polling shows that every conference's fans think their refs are not good. I'm sure it's relatable and perhaps if SEC fans watched PAC games or XII games, they might say their refs are better. That would be the more interesting info. Get people who watch multiple conferences and have them say what conference has the worst refs or all they all equally terrible. Personal bias would play into it, but that would be more interesting info to me.

And agreed that reffing is hard. But the way people react sometimes, they make it seem like a blind rat would do a better job. Thus implying it isn't difficult (but they would never want to do it). I'm sure it's hard to rise up the ranks to get to any sort of prestige and money in that profession. Maybe Billy Crystal can make another movie and this time make reffing seem like a dream job to entice future refs?

I loved Forget Paris (mostly cause may favorite NBA team was prominently featured).

I agree with a lot of what you said, and I probably am biased as the team I bleed for is in the Big 12. However, if you were to rank each conference by how bad their refs performed on the field (missed calls, wrong calls, etc.) one conference would have to be ranked at the bottom, and I do believe that would be the Big 12.
