SEC leaning toward 9 game conference season

I gotta think if the sec goes 9 we will also move to 9 which should create a bump in payment of at least 20%(~4 mil) in the contract for the additional games. The more tricky subject is how do you modify the 3-5-5 scheduling structure at 14 teams, or do we add 2 teams and keep status quo formula but would be 3-6-6 instead of 3-5-5 or add more than 2.I still think the endgame will be acc pacand big 12 combo league once sec and bigten get to there endgame but it is going to take some time with our current GOR blocking sec and bigten from taking from us this round

I would think we keep 3-5-5 until adding two more teams.

Sadly I don't think we will actually expand any time soon, no real benefit nor any realistic chances at any team that would improve things.

Mathematically, here's how you do a 9 game schedule without divisions:
14 teams: 5-4-4
16 teams: 3-6-6
18 teams: 1-8-8

Beyond that you have to go with longer cycles, like
20 teams: 4-5-5-5
22 teams: 3-6-6-6

At 24 teams you probably play a 10 game schedule.

Question is what happens to the ACC/SEC rivalry games? UK will most certainly try to get out of playing UofL since they rely on OOC cupcakes to make a bowl. Adding another SEC game makes it even harder for them. I think the only way they survive is if ESPN mandates it.

Screw it just go ahead and move to 10-2 model ahead of everyone else and if that means scheduling a few teams as home and home so be it to get the best value out of our crappy ass deal. Who gives a crap about scheduling worst teams to bump up your win total when the ACC is as bad as everyone proclaims it??? I would get way ahead of everyone on this and move on to a 10-2 model and if ND doesn’t like the format then tell them to eff off.

A 13th regular season game is beginning to make sense. Start the season one week earlier. More conference games, saves rivalries, increases revenue, more college football

Looking at this years Week 0, I'm becoming in favor of it. There are a lot of games on in August and it would be nice to have another week of meaningful games.

If they expand the Playoff to 12 teams, they may have to move the start of the season to "Week 0".

Eventually if you add the extra playoff game or two and the 13th game, eventually it's going to be too much for the players. You have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe just expand to 8 playoff teams.

You counter an increase in games with roster expansion. You allow a bump in scholarships.

8 playoff teams is more than enough. Don't make the season too long.
