Who are you yelling at and why?

You do realize that I'm not favor of the release of the SPR and have said so for...well, forever? I've never been a proponent of it.

But if you're actually asking, you release it because it increases the global amount of oil on the market, which, may, reduce oil prices.

As I've mentioned earlier, the president can only order the release...he cannot control where every drop of it goes. So it gets added to the total supply. Some stays here and some goes overseas. And yes, the US is pretty much at full capacity.

This is a complex issue and few have the patience to understand it. Virtually no journalist understands it enough to explain it to their readers and certainly the current president along with the former one doesn't much understand it either.

Actions by trump along with the global pandemic were harmful to the US oil producers. Many went out of business and we lost 4 refineries. There is no quick fix to this. Yes, we need to build more refineries. But raise your hand if you want one in your back yard.

Absolute total fiction. Trump actually BAILED OUT producers when oil went negative by making large purchases and putting it in the Strategic Oil Reserve (yes, the same oil your buddy is exporting to China and who knows where else). Trump did NOT, like Biden, order idiotic things like retroactively imposing EPA fines on refineries that were economically borderline pushing them into closure---or artificially restrict the number of leases going to auction----or close off large portions of US reserves to drilling. Biden owns this fuel disaster and everyone knows it. He may not be 100% responsible for a rise in fuel prices----but he is absolutely 100% responsible for making it worse than it had to be. Worse yet---he has no intention of implementing even the most obvious easy fixes that represent the low hanging fruit of solutions. Its dumbfounding---not just to me---but to the American public at large.

Sorry Coog - Tom will not believe this fact as it sheds DJT in a positive light. which, BTW, proves that you are in fact correct.

Because it's not a ******* fact, dude! trump got SA to flood the market. That caused the US rig count to dip to near historic lows. Then the pandemic hit and we lost 4 refineries. These were harmful to US oil production. That's just a fact.

U.S. oil rig count drops to lowest since Dec. 2016 -Baker Hughes

You're the ones who can't see things through your orange light.

And in case you're believing the lies, the SPR actually went down under the trump administration.

When trump took office, there were 695 million barrels in the SPR. That number steadily declined throughout his term and ended up down nearly 60 millions barrels at 638 million barrels. I don't see an increase in the SPR in ANY week during the trump administration. Not. One.
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHa...SSTUS1&f=W

Under Trumps term: SPR started at 695 million barrels and at the end of his term it was at 635 million barrels - a drop of 60 million barrels. Under Biden (not even at the halfway point): SPR started at 635 million barrels and by the end of June is at 498 million barrels - a drop of 137 million barrels. Trump could talk a big game and not deliver on everything he said he would - I remember his goal was to increase it - but I do recall him also wanting to seel from the SPR and replenish with cheaper oil and to try to profit off of it too.

But you cannot deny that Biden is draining the SPR for political purposes given that the could instead simply allow our energy companies to extract oil, build more refining capacity and thus get us onto the path of cheaper energy thru production.

Nor have I. I have NEVER been in favor of using the SPR merely to try and lower the price at the pump.

You're invoking the benefits of hindsight. The pandemic was supposed to be of much shorter duration; however, that did not happen because some states chose to reopen much earlier than other states and it was done along party lines. The extended lock downs were designed to 1) tank the economy, 2) promote vote by mail and 3) protect an senile old man who was running to become president. We also know that the Democrat controlled house stymied any stimulus money to go to the people to bridge the gap in order to hurt American's even more under Trump's presidency. Notice how the stimulus money was thrown out in very highly aggressive ways in 2021 just to help Biden look better - to get a so called "economic victory" under his watch? Especially when we knew that the excess lockdowns that remained in 2021 were not needed? That businesses were paid to NOT hire people? The list goes on and on.

Such incomplete stories you tell.

Then what's your purpose of defending Biden's energy policies? You have admitted in a number of threads that you disagree with the SPR releases and you understand that we need to increase production domestically. Given all this, why would you think it's smart for Biden to beg the Saudis for more oil when we can do the same thing by producing it domestically?

President's can only order a release from the stockpile. They have NOTHING to do with it being sold and to whom it is sold. Further, we already sell 8 millions barrels a day to other countries. The report of the stockpile release that ended up overseas was 5 million in total.

More lies from the known LIAR. The President absolutely has a say over the Strategic Oil Reserves.

Well, Macron even tried to explain to sloJoe that the Saudis were already at their refining capacity. I guess he didn't get it.

I. Didn't. Say. It. Was.

I only pointed out the fact that trump did basically the same thing, and it ended up being very harmful...yes...some of that was due to an unforeseen pandemic. Of course he didn't handle that very well from the jump either, adding to the problem.

Perhaps try reading what I actually said?

Presidents can only open the reserves and put them on the market. They don't determine where it goes from that point. If so, trump did the same exact same thing you guys are just now complaining about.

Sure thing Tommy, the President has not clue who is receiving the Reserves and what their intentions are.

Continue on lying to those gullible enough to listen. This is clearly evidence you are a habitual liar and even when caught in a lie you continue to tangle the web further. You can stop at any time

I'm referring to your ludicrous assertion that the lockdowns were purposefully designed and/or extended for those purposes.

HE didn't. You simply don't know what you're talking about.

And FWIW - The same thing happened under trump, to the same Chinese company.

Looking like a fool is not a good look.

Just because you don't have the mental acuity to understand how it works, you flail around. Not a good look. Perhaps take a minute, breathe, and actually do some research of credible sources?

Quote:HOW DOES THE SPR GET OIL TO MARKET?
Because of its location near big U.S. refining or petrochemical centers, the SPR can ship as much as 4.4 million barrels per day. It can take only 13 days from a presidential decision for the first oil to enter the U.S. market, according to the Energy Department.

Under a sale, the Energy Department usually holds an online auction in which energy companies bid on the oil.

Energy companies bid on and buy the oil released. The president does not control what they do with it after they purchase it. If he did, you'd cry Socialism!

Additionally, the oil in the reserves is not just American produced. It comes from many places.

Nor have I. I have NEVER been in favor of using the SPR merely to try and lower the price at the pump.

We agree. Biden is shamelessly using the SPR for political purposes and not for an actual emergency.

Yes, just like trump and other presidents before them have...we've never had an actual emergency to use it from its inception that I'm aware of.
