A Survey of the ACC Path to This Moment: Andrew Carter, Charlotte Observer
Recommended.
Andrew Carter, Charlotte Observer
'How the ACC went from one of most successful in college sports history to uncertain future'
Few businesses anywhere, in any field, can match the ACC’s financial growth over the past 10 or 20 years and, yet ... it’s still not enough.
....
How did one of the most successful conferences in college sports history arrive at such a place of vulnerability? The factors are myriad and complex, with some of the missteps more avoidable than others. To understand the predicament of the ACC’s present is to understand the conference’s roots and history, both more recent and decades old. It’s to understand the weight of decisions whose consequences are only now coming into focus... Here’s a look at the most significant.

A solid article which chose not to dig behind some of the decisions, but to reflect upon them, and which sadly missed the mark on the very last comment. How can a GOR "save" a conference when it causes it to miss out on the single greatest paradigm shift in its industry? It is a coup de grace and not a salvation! It seems to me the only noble thing to come of it would be the epitaph, "They Chose to Die Together Rather Than to Change." I would rather it read, "The ACC Did Many Great Things and When Facing Death, They All Chose to Live, Each in His Own Way!"

Another thoughtful article.
Ryan Kelly, WCTV
'On conference expansion, what FSU gains and what college football loses'
Where a select few like Florida State will be tossed a life raft, others will be thrown an anchor and be told to swim.

I still think GOR is the right tool to hold the current members hostage. And in 2036, maybe Earth no longer exists. Or football is banned and basketball becomes popular again.
