Major Madness named former Bellarmine/current Vermont guard Dylan Penn the America East Preseason POTY. The guy is a stud. In the two wins vs Jacksonville LY to include the ASUN championship game Penn averaged 25.5 ppg. He was a combined 18-36 (50%) FG, 3-7 (42.8%) from 3, and a perfect 12-12 from the line. Also throw in 11 rebounds & 7 assists.

CJ Fleming was equally impressive, averaging 26 ppg, on 14-31 (45.2%) FG, 9-21 (42.9%) from 3, & a perfect 15-15 from the line.

Combined they averaged 25.8 ppg each. They shot 47.8% from the floor, 42.9% from 3, and an incredibly perfect 27-27 from the line.

The stats don't tell the entire story. Both of these guys hit some daggers at the most opportune time for the Knights in both games.

Needless to say I am glad we won't see them this year.

Appreciate the high praise for two very deserving young men. I thought Dylan might sneak up on some people in the American East, but that ain't gonna happen now. I'm hoping he is named an All American and gets his chance at the NCAA tournament.

EKU played Campbellsville-Harrodsburg season before last. Beat them 118-54

Yeah, it's a satellite campus of Campbellsville U. Not sure how long the school has been around, but they've had hoops (NAIA?) for a few seasons.

It is somewhat surprising that neither old GLVC rival (NKU or USI) is on Bellarmine's schedule, but it's nevertheless a tremendous non-con slate, and it's nice to at least get Murray and Miami U. at home (the Knights played at their places last season).

McDowell graduated. We brought in 3 6'7-6'8 freshmen forwards and another reclassified freshman point guard. We also have a 3 point shooting 6'9 forward who was a Cincinnati commit who red shirted last year. I'm looking forward to the season, but I don't want football to go so quickly.
