What does he mean by significantly lopsided? Distance between teams or competition on the gridiron?

It has been said that the east is so much better than the west that people have assumed it is factual and possibly permanent. I doubt may people could tell you much about any of the teams.

Glad to hear. Would have hated for us to finally get back into a geographically sensical conference only for it to be jumbled up

It will be true for at least a couple of seasons IMO. Troy, USM, and Ark State could all make big leaps and Georgia Southern and ODU get no better and the East will still be a good bit better.

Since we're now only playing about 28% of teams in the other division instead of 80%, there could be a big difference in a West schedule than an East one.

We should schedule as if we have divisions but let the two highest ranked teams play in the CCG. JMO.

It'll be interesting to see the new members respond to the nail biters at ULM, Texas state, and USA. Sun Belt full of Lucky Strikes.

Oldyeller is right. Nothing is easy in the conference regardless of division or record.

I'm fine with leaving things be for awhile.

But also wouldn't be against unofficially leaving the divisions how they are but allow the top 2 teams to play for the title regardless of division.

Yeah, people forget that the SEC East used to dominate the SEC West for the better part of a decade in the late 90s thru early 2000s. Thinking about that now is laughable as UGA is the only thing in the East with a pulse currently. The SBC East as a division is clearly the better side of the conference FOR NOW, but as time flows, it's not guaranteed 5 years from now.

Seems like a challenge for us in the West.

The NFL draft has proven throwing a cookie at the worst teams in a conference isn’t going to pull them out of the mud. The worst teams today were the worst teams 5 and 10 years ago. You can’t financially subsidize the worst teams or programs will intentionally suck for money (). The pendulum may eventually swing back west but these things always take time.

Unless its Arkansas State vs ULM, then the result has apparently been preordained, regardless of how great or crappy each team is.

Man…people, “the media”, are sleeping on Southern Miss., Troy, stAte & Louisiana as a whole. It’s as if they don’t know the best High School Football in the country is played along the Gulf coast.

TXST, South & ULM can easily be a problem too. Definitely not discrediting those programs.

That's okay, let them think this. They can be surprised come the fall.

Boy stop. The best high school football in the country flows thru titletown in South Georgia.

I’m still learning about our new conference home, but I seem to recall that in fairly recent years Louisiana, Southern Miss, and Arkansas State were kicking everyone around the field. No reason to believe they won’t all be back in the saddle, together, again very soon. Not dissing the other West teams who may join them. It seems that at least Troy is putting some pieces in place. (I know our first conference game is at their place, and I’m not at all sure how that will come out.)

When you look at conference championship results with our current alignment, The Western Division has 14 Conference Titles and the East has 5 (4 of which belong to App).
