Not sure this Keith Raniere is the most ethical of folks or the most likable, but he does deserve, like every legal citizen of the United States, equal treatment under the law.

If this is true, and sure looks to be, there are FBI agents that need to go to jail, and for a good long time. Planting evidence is unacceptable, and the emotional nature of child pornography makes this even worse.

It is terrifying what the FBI can and will do to an individual to get the outcome they desire. They are the law and act as if above the law.

Get ready for lots of federal defendants to be acquitted at trial in the next few years. In cases where FBI testimony is a significant portion of the evidence — or exhibits obtained by the FBI — I think you’re going to see juries that just flat out refuse to convict of anything.

While I have no desire to see criminals not properly prosecuted for their crimes, I am more concerned about FBI corruption and overreach. Cannot properly maintain public trust if those entrusted to do so are planting evidence. This is banana republic stuff. Fix the institution, purge the cancer, and get back to an agency that operates fairly and within the boundaries of the law.

Things like this are exactly the type of thing that makes a society fall apart. Trust is never regained sometimes. And once enough institutions are seen as corrupt by enough rank and file citizens, it’s over.

This is exactly right.

We are quickly approaching the point of no return with the government’s credibility. If I were a defense attorney representing a client against the government, FBI or otherwise, I would plant the seed of corruption and incompetence of government agencies in my opening statement.

I haven’t trusted the government for years. It used to be called a conspiracy theory. Today it’s called common sense.

The plan is working, our society is floundering and in danger of going under. Or it could be that it's already too far gone to salvage but just doesn't know it yet.

I'm not sure we haven't already gone off the cliff but still in free fall. It'll be messy as hell when we hit the ground that we are rushing to meet.

I honestly dont think its ever been that way. Bowling Green Ky was known as Little Chicago in the late 60s to late 70s. The city/county earned that name for a reason...bombings, bootlegging, prostitution, bodies floating up in rivers and creeks, tied down with weights, or their ***** cut off, stuck in then throat.

I have family that was tied to that and my best friend's uncle was "boss" in the late 60s....till 1971. Till he supposedly blew his brains out on a country road. While everyone of them were guilty as sin. When the feds broke it up around 1976 they did so by planting and lying their ass off.

If the internet was around at in time in history I think we would see corruption and cheating, lying, setting people up...

just as we are seeing today

yepper ... same thingy with the Dixie Mafia back in the day ... one of my early roomies was 'connected'...

https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/copy3_o...7ae091a3ea

Quote:This month marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of Judge Vincent Sherry and his wife, Margaret, whose deaths at the hands of the so-called Dixie Mafia exposed the lawlessness and corruption that had overtaken Mississippi’s Gulf Coast in the 1980s.

“It was out of control,” said retired Special Agent Keith Bell, referring to the level of corruption in Biloxi and Harrison County—so much so that in 1983 federal authorities would designate the entire Harrison County Sheriff’s Office as a criminal enterprise. Special Agent Royce Hignight initiated the investigation of the sheriff and was soon joined by Bell.

“They were doing anything and everything illegal down here,” said Bell, who grew up on the Gulf Coast. “For money, the sheriff and officers loyal to him would release prisoners from the county jail, safeguard drug shipments, and hide fugitives. Anything you can think of, they were involved in.”

Bell is quick to point out that there were plenty of honest officers on the force, and some would later help the FBI put an end to the culture of corruption in Biloxi. But for a long time, Sheriff Leroy Hobbs and his Dixie Mafia associates held sway.

Quote:The Dixie Mafia had no ties to La Cosa Nostra. They were a loose confederation of thugs and crooks who conducted their criminal activity in the Southeastern United States. When word got out that Biloxi—with its history of strip clubs and illicit gambling—was a safe haven, the criminals settled in.

At the same time, members of the organization incarcerated at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola were running a “lonely hearts” extortion scam with associates on the street. The scam (see sidebar) targeted homosexuals and brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars—money they entrusted to their lawyer, Pete Halat.

But Halat, who would later become mayor of Biloxi, spent the money. When it came time to hand it over to the crooks, he said the cash had been taken by his former law partner, Vincent Sherry. So the Dixie mob ordered a hit on Sherry, a sitting state circuit judge who had no direct ties to the criminals. On September 14, 1987, Sherry and his wife were murdered in their home.

there's more in the linky ... it's one helluva story...

Our political adversaries (marxist) lit the match and we gladly threw kindling on the fire. Now we are throwing logs on the blaze. We have met the enemy and the enemy is us.

From what I have read our current FBI couldn't hold Hoover's jock when it comes to corruption and that faded away for the general population.

Keith Raniere is terrible and deserves life in prison for running an exploitive cult and sexually abusing women. That said, if the FBI planted evidence, he deserves a new trial.

I think we are off the cliff but waiting to hit the ground, but don’t know it. It’s gonna be a messy landing.

Just think of the players that are at the ready when to run things when we are all desperate and can’t keep the lights on or food in the stores.

Then, we’ll see why these countries that we are so critical of function like they do. We are just a breakdown away from being just like them.
