My mom, while walking her 18 at 76 made a hole in one. It was her second. Just a little perspective.

She's late 80's now and no longer plays. Maybe it is a healthy sport after all!

I remember as a very young kid visiting my great uncle (my grandmother's brother). He was late for the family dinner, and when he came in he was noticeably drunk. My mom explained to me that he had hit a hole in one while golfing earlier that afternoon.

I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it now. Sorry guys, but what a dumb "sport".

I used to play in regular game with 3 other guys. I was the best player by a fairly wide margin, two were pretty much average, and one was terrible. So I would take the terrible guy as my partner against the two average players. One day, my partner was having a particularly bad day--through 16 holes, he had not helped me a single hole. But I was playing out of my mind, and we had won or were ahead on all bets and presses. 17 was a short par-3. I always let him hit first for our side, so I knew what I had to do, and he hit the ball about 2 feet beside the hole, stepped back, and smiled that he was finally going to help us, and with a birdie we were going to close out all the matches. I hit my tee shot, one bounce and into the bottom of the jar. I turned to him and said, jokingly, "I am getting so tired of carrying your arse."

What a sorry little man. LMAO. Great touch though to include how great the other players were...as if it somehow makes his feat more impressive.

Played a lot of golf at Big Creek back in the day. # 13 was a nice par 3 with water on the left side of the Green. You had to hit the green or you would be screwed. I think it played around 160?
