I'm tired of all this roster change.
I hope Bates is successful. Good for MAC I guess.
Go Rockets!!!
He's a guy that seems to bring a LOT of baggage with him.

RE: MBB Transfer Portal
Bates is 18 and has had the trajectory of being called a phenom a possible generational talent at 15. when he was 16, 10,000 people would watch him show up to play-in Ypsi. everyone wanted him. but kids develop at different rates. bates sort of hit a plateau and the competition caught up to him a bit. at 17 he was playing at a top 25 program. got injured. lost some his confidence.
itʻs probably a one year deal, but a good decision for him to come home. just be a student somewhere you know a lot of people and already have respect and fans. stan heath is a veteran coach. and after a long career in D1 he coached in the G League for Orlando and before he returned to EMU was named coach of the year. So, for Bates-whose end goal is the NBA, not the EMU Eagles- Heath is the best guy to develop his game and confidence for the league.
Iʻve never read any disparaging stuff about Bates other than him being a sometimes indecisive teenager with his high pressure basketball expectations. I know his dad was heavily involved in his coaching and AAU stuff, but thatʻs not uncommon. This is his first adult decision. Seems to make more sense than Louisville, who is facing probation barely missing the death penalty and breaking in a new young coach.
at EMU, AKA Second Chance U, he will team with Noah Farrkhan who, somewhat like Bates, was once at 15,16 a top player in his class, but he stopped growing had a poor senior year and the interest cooled. he went to East Carolina but didnʻt start and got hurt. comes to EMU and gets PT and confidence and had a good 1st year. they also have Legend Geeter coming back home from Providence. and Billingsley (Gʻtown) was once the runner up for Mr Basketball in Ohio. They also got an A10 starter transferring in. These guys wonʻt be in awe of Emoni. They all have a lot in common and if they hold each other accountable and Heath can create a cohesive unit EMU will be a MAC road show and put the league in the national spotlight. they might not win the MAC. They just have to be good. Bates doesnʻt have to be great. He just needs to be good. And it works out for everyone.

Former Rocket Point Guard Jemere Hill is transferring to Division 11 Lewis University in Romeoville, ILL. Besides having great point guards a head of him on the depth chart both seasons, injuries slowed down his development. Hopefully he can reinvent himself at Lewis!

RE: MBB Transfer Portal
I haven't fact shecked the numbers in this tweet but these are some interesting stats
Coach Tate, CCA Men's Basketball Coach
@tate_cca
1 in 12 transfers, transfer up in the portal, the rest transfer lateral or down. 47% of NCAA athletes who enter will no longer play NCAA basketball or basketball at all. A student who transfers once has a 15% less chance of graduating. I learned some stuff tonight! Wowzers!??

47% is the wowzer for me. I can almost see it though. College ball at any level is a heavy commitment. They know at some point, they will play their last competitive game against good coached and practiced talent before hitting the company team and the rec leagues at the Y (not at all uncompetitive). I guess they say sooner rather than later.

Maybe he went back to Italy?

Damn, I'm surprised he even has time or energy for basketball. Did you check out the pictures at the bottom of the instagram page?
Probably like a lot of other athletes who have lost interest and don't want to put in the work to be good.
