We were the last 12th seed....so almost a 13th!

...seems like the NET deal is not nearly as big a deal as it should be... I think 3 out of 4 of the 'first four out' had quite better NET rankings than the 'last four in'...

and FWIW, they noted that UAB was the OVERALL #48 team selected, thus the last #12 seed...

It all starts with Josh Carlton, 6-11 245. In games this season he has scored anything from 2 to 30 points.

You are correct. He can be dominant especially against smaller line ups. Key to stopping him is getting him in foul trouble early which he sometimes does. 1st team all conference.

Forward is Fabian White. Winningest player in UH history. Can go inside but this year has developed a very good 3 point shot. Only played 3 minutes in the conference semi final due to a back injury, but was dominant in the finals. Another 1st team all conference.

Not a lot of depth on the front line or in general. Usually only go 8 deep in competitive games. Back up big men are solid. Mostly there for rebounding and defense unlike the starters.

3 guard starting lineup with only 1 backup.

That NET number is garbage. UH is good but no UH fan thinks we're the 3rd best team in the country

On the surface it appears crazy to me. However, they did go 0-4 in Quad 1 games.

Which is why I didn't put a lot of stock in the NET. To me it's no better than the RPI.

We have played well enough to beat anyone in the field - for up to 25 minutes.

Sad part is they're longtime conference opponents - we can't punk these guys like we did the Iowa State fans.

Only team on UAB’s schedule to make the Big Dance - San Francisco. The WCC got three teams in the Dance.

When Houston has been at its best, the Cougars have just absolutely throttled people. They have held several opponents to less than 50 points. They have a lot of big guards, which could be a problem for us. But overall, their front court isn’t huge. Active, but not deep or super big. We can match up physically.

We are going to need someone to step up as I think UH probably can curtail our guards’ productivity. Jelly probably gets his but Ertel is gonna to be challenged to get open looks.

UH is high in the NET because of efficiency rankings. #3 for defense. #11 for offense primarily due to exceptional offensive rebounding.

UH only had 5 losses. Don't know which of those 5 was a Q2 loss. But 3 of the 5 losses were by 2 points or less. The 2 Memphis losses were by 10+ although we beat them by 18 today.

Defense and rebounding especially offensive are UH's strengths. Lack of depth is the weakness. To beat UH you have to hit the defensive boards hard, play at a fast pace preferrably with a pressing defense, and hit open 3s which aren't frequent. A tightly called game helps too due to kack of depth.

The Memphis loss at home was a Quad 2.

When are the game times announced?

Considering making the drive from Nashville - who else is thinking about going?

This is what I thought as well. But there are actually six 12-seeds with 4 of them playing in the 1st round at Dayton. If UAB was the last 12th seed selected then why are they not playing in the 1st round? Now I think the answer is because UAB. like Richmond were AQ thus avoiding the play-in game. Oh well, we're in and I am stoked.

RE: Selection Sunday - (12) UAB vs (5) Houston on Friday in Pittsburgh.
My Term Paper:) Memphis Blazer you are the best fan in America. UAB Never Say Die Fans 1000? 2000? Your the reason UAB provided $ and in person support have Single Handedly attracted 2 Excellent Coaches and Kept UAB in Discussions and National Respect for 40 years.
I’ve seen probably 500 plus games. I traveled USA for 30 years dropped in to watch teams from Boise , Arkansas , Oregon a bunch. I’ve never seen a Jordon Walker. Finally an absolute freak of nature experience. Damn Walker, Ertel and Quan under the greatest pressure hit shots had steals in final 2 min no fear Bad Ass.
It has. always been difficult to watch teams in power conferences have a bad season and get in over a 2nd CUSA or Mid Major team. It did not make any difference but I felt better sending Jay Bilas and ESPN a question ( Not Answered) such as this.
First for as long as I can remember the committee picks are very close to the the ESPN Experts
Every year the put in 6-8 teams.from power conferences with a bad season. The Power Conferences own games against top 50 Teams due to the system we live in which has gotten better. Pomeroy is remarkably close to NCAA Net Rankings. Pomeroy System is really good.
For 5 Consecutive years a single bid Conference USA team has beaten a round of 64 Power Conference Team. MTSU sweet 16. Example Big 10 gets 7-8 teams. Every year they get cooked in first 2 rounds by Mid Major. Michigan goes 5 Wins 10 Losses in Quad 1. That sucks by any measure. Net rankings loss v top 50, delivers more points than A UAB win vs Top 60 on the road vs North Texas. Mid Majors can’t gain traction. 5 years Conference USA with one chance wins round one. 4 of 8 Big 12 Lose round one. Cinderella draws ratings that smoke power 5.
My issue is committee following Bracket Experts. Big Ten 9 Bids. We played horrible vs San Francisco. Lose by 2. WCC Gonzaga tourney champ Awesome Story. St Marys 5 Seed and San Francisco 10 seed.
4 Bid MWC Auto Bid Boise State 8 Seed, 3 at large, Colorado State 6 Seed? SD State 8 Seed, Wyoming 13 Seed.
( I enter into goofy status ) but Texas A M no bid? Beat very highly ranked teams no bid? I’d be furious. In addition being selfish, MTSU played great! NTSU tough great season, lost conf tourney game. So Did 3 MWC and 2 WCC. Louisiana Tech excellent season. Fans Lose Not Seeing Kenny Loftin .

The “experts” on CBSSports Network are talking about the seed matchups. They had nothing but good things to say about UAB and one of them believes we are the team to watch and could make a deep run in the tournament.

I quoted “experts” because, even though they are talking good about UAB, they are still very biased towards the “P5” schools.
