Not so sure, still NET #31 with 5 Quad 1 wins including a dominating one over Purdue and a win at Ohio State just last Sunday. They also split with Rutgers and Indiana and have a NET ranking advantage over both. Indiana needed the win more than Michigan did.

Wow I'm a bit surprised as I thought UM team would really be fired up with Juwan Howard back.

Yikes, I'd have a hard time with them getting in without comparing to others resume. I'm sure it's out there to see, just been lazy for a while, I'll look into it.

Those boys had fire in their bellies that first half and 8 minutes into the 2nd. With 12 minutes left and down 17, Indiana decided to show up.

Congratulations to Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State and Penn State, especially Penn State with a nice victory over my Buckeyes.

I'd say the seat in Columbus is warming up.

Finding comparable data is a bi**h! I need actual numbers and graphs to see differences and I'm not finding much.

Michigan is 5-9 in Q1 games and 3-3 in Q2. Maybe I don't understand this? But you're saying since they simply have 5 Q1 wins that justifies their ticket being punched? I'm not trying to argue because I'm obviously clueless, but that is a lot of Q1 defeats.

That's my thinking. I believe the Indiana/Michigan game was an elimination game and loser to NIT.

I can't speak for the Selection Committee but I care more about the Q1 wins than the losses (or record). Strength of schedule is definitely a Selection Committee criteria and 9 Q1 losses means Michigan played 9 Quad 1 level games (either Top 30 at home, Top 50 Neutral, or Top 75 Road). These are tough games, most teams are going to struggle in these games. I'd rather have a Michigan who played a tough schedule than a team that played just 1 or 2 Quad 1 games and loaded up on a ton of cupcakes.

Also a NET of 31 (34 after the loss to Indiana) means they are in the top half of a field of 68 assuming you took the top 68 teams. They can't since they have to take one bid conference champs. If they truly used the NET to determine the at large bids, I'd bet the cutoff line would be around the 40's. The NCAA doesn't perfectly go strictly by the NET and probably shouldn't but a NET of 34 seems so high that leaving them out is saying they don't belong for a particular reason. Rutgers' NET is 77 and they split with Michigan. How does #77 belong over #34 when they split the season series? I know you're an Ohio State fan but take that out of the equation.

Why would an Ohio State guy NOT give Michigan the benefit of the doubt? 03-lmfao

I see your points.

So is the double bye really "an advantage"? May be too long a lay off, while the other teams come in game ready We'll see how the last one goes today but so far if I'm looking right double bye teams 0-3.

The double bye system started in 2015. Teams with double byes:

2015: 4-0
2016: 3-1, 2-0 in SF
2017: 2-2, 2-0 in SF
2018: 2-2, 1-1 in SF, 0-1 in C (#5 Michigan won championship)
2019: 3-1, 2-0 in SF
2021: 3-1, 1-1 in SF, 1-0 in C
2022: 1-3, Guaranteed 1 non double bye team will make C between Iowa and Indiana.

1st round record of teams with double byes: 18-10, including this year's 1-3. A broken clock is right twice every day. Of the previous 7 teams to make the SF, only two have made the final, #5 Michigan in 2018 and #5 Ohio State in 2021, with neither being that big of a longshot although both beat the #1 seed in the SF.
