So, does that mean those chechins failed to do their job?

Not sure it makes much difference as they were already pretty much using their nation as a staging area. I do wonder if they might use that Belarus border to try to intimidate Poland.

I wonder what happened to the russian paratroopers if they need those from Belarus?

Drop the same economic hammer on Belarus. Also better start moving a crap load of US troops into Poland since NATO has pushed them into the front and center position when it comes to channeling weapons into Ukraine.

A bigger economic hammer. Hard to cut off Russian oil. There is nothing Belarus produces we need. They are already in Russia's arms. They might be less of a problem as an autonomous Republic of Russia than as a rogue dictatorship in eastern Europe.

Yup. Thats why I said I dont know if them joining the fight really matters---they effectively were already the launching pad. Still---no reason they should not eat the same sanctions.

For those scoring at home, we now have 3 European nations at war (whether they call it that or not).

2 against 1, but many other European nations supporting Ukraine with arms and supplies, so while not actually fighting on the ground, they are in a since in the war.

I think the western world SHOULD cut off Russian oil so we can see who blinks first. And then realize who has the upper hand when things really get down to it. These are just playground hijinks compared to a real crisis. And Russia knows it.

They all are. Belarus GDP per capita was 187% more than Ukraine in 2019. Used first non Covid year but it’s a similar percentage any year I checked between 2017-2020.

This can only means things aren't going as Russia planned. Anyway, Belarus is just a Russian puppet state so this is quite literally like Russia just sending more of its own troops.
