WVU would raise the academic profile substantially of the Big-12 by leaving it, and ...

This will not happen unless those respective conferences decide, against all available information at the moment, to kick those schools out. As such I don't think will occur, individually or collectively amongst the schools, in my lifetime.
You don't think?!

Guaranteed not to happen 10000%

First and foremost never going to happen but if they did in the new ACC Wake could probably win that league.

The SEC wouldn't be kicking out Vandy, not would they be completely leaving the SEC. Vandy men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, etc. would be in the SEC. Vandy football, by itself, would be in the AAC. I think Vandy could go for that, and the SEC wouldn't stop them either.

Since football is probably 80% or so of the value of a conference's media deal, this would presumably mean Vandy would lose 80% of its SEC media paycheck in exchange for an AAC media check.

Why on earth would anyone want to go for that?

Wake is getting a little better, but still has a tiny fanbase. The other two are basement dwellers. Don't see the appeal.
They are still in P5 conferences and known universities worldwide

If their only appeal is being in P5 conferences, then it's implied that their value outside of a P5 conference is nothing.

II can see Duke accepting a B12 membership along with Memphis. Although a case for remaining in the AAC seems stronger.

They would leave a VA/NC MBB centric conference with universities just like them?

...touche, my fine, yet cantankerous feathered friend... 03-drunk03-lmfao ...hey, at least y'all are tagging along to give us a shot to even up things (at least we ended up splitting bball this season...04-cheers )

I remember a Rice game we had back in the Watson Brown years that perfectly summed up UAB's 'meh'ness during that time... Rice was marching to a go-ahead TD to win the game - Rice threw an INT into UAB's endzone, and ALL the UAB dude had to do was flop down, and the game was over; but, nope... he ran out of the endzone, to around the 15 yard line, and got hit - fumbled, and of course Rice recovered. next play - Rice TD... Blazer fans needed hazard pay back then... 03-drunk03-lmfao

Let's just make a division of all the flying varmints:

Temple
Rice
FAU
No.Texas
UTSA
Tulsa (Golden Hurricanes make things fly)
UAB (yeah, those Dragons can fly)

...the only down side (to me) is no Memphis (although FedEx does a LOT of flying there), but just make them our (UAB's) permanent cross-rival, and we are SET, y'all... 04-rock

1. Even Roadrunners fly, I’ve seen one fly before.

2. Watson Brown coached at Rice before he made it to UAB, and

3. That UAB INT -> Fumble ended up turning around our 1-5 season, we won the last 6 games (only one by more than 6 points) and broke our 40-year bowl drought. That same year, ECU (who we also beat in miraculous fashion during the streak) played in the Birmingham Bowl vs the AAC’s own USF.

Anyway, UAB, that’s why you’re our BEST FRIENDS and so glad we’re taking you (you’re taking us?) to the AAC with us!

And congrats on the 1 game streak in MBB 03-wink

Here’s your Magnolia League:

Army
Navy
Duke
WF
Vanderbilt
Tulane
Rice
SMU
Tulsa
Air Force

It won’t happen, but these schools would gel well together.

Yep I forgot WB was at Rice... Coach with the most losses EVER, but he's probably the ONLY person to beat both Bear (as Vandy's QB) AND Sa-Bear (as UAB coach vs. LSU)... so that's something... also beat JoePa in his heyday, as HC at Cincy... and Cincy was not very good in those days, IIRC... ...and with that, didn't WB beat Texas when he was at Rice, when Texas was TEXAS? WB had the knack for coaching up underdogs, but could NOT handle being a favorite or even in a close matchup...

Yeah, the 'six-pack' leaving out in '23 should be fun... I DO think that we were the first two 'on the AAC list'... 02-13-banana

Great times ahead! 04-cheers
